Last night I successfully got keyless entry working, thanks to the generous @90WT who donated me his extra aftermarket LX470 blank (which I gutted for the electronics).

It seems the problem was the remote itself was incompatible. Since the remote electronics and the transponder chip are different pieces, I just swapped the remote's circuit board into my key and now I have a key that starts the car AND works for keyless entry!

@90WT has a 2005 LX and I have a 2000 LC, the transponder chips are incompatible. His is a 4D chip, mine is a 4C chip. Check out the following picture:

Some things I learned which may be helpful to others:

  • Be careful when you take apart the key fob "brick"... the black housing (top of above picture) plastic is fairly brittle, so take your time with a tiny flathead screwdriver popping the tabs. There's a side with two tabs right next to each other, I recommend starting with that side when prying it open.
  • You can program remotes independently of the transponder chip. You do not need the transponder chip programmed to do this.
  • Order the correct transponder chip for your year of vehicle. 4C for a 1998-2002, 4D above that and I think some 06-07 need a different one 12BBT or something. (Look it up)

Finally, here are the keys I ordered originally (which the remotes DO NOT WORK on):
Keymall LC 4C Chip Key

This seems to be the same key that I got from @90WT, I ordered another one last night (Yes, I know the 4D chip won't work for me, I just want the remote):
KeylessOption LX470 4D Chip Key

I'd be really interested to know if the "KeylessOption" branded 4C remotes work, but I couldn't find a single key (only a 2 pack) and I already have enough spares. For those of you who may be ordering keys for a 1998-2002 LC, I would recommend NOT ordering the ones from my first link if you want keyless entry to work. :worms:
I have ordered the KeylessOption remote keys for 98-2002 and never had a problem.

Does anybody have a good link to a 4D chip remote FOB.
I think I two 4C's that won't program doors. Willing to trade to someone who has an early model year who's FOB don't work either.

I believe the 4D refers to the transponder chip, not the remote. I couldn't hold back my curiosity so the KeylessOption 4C 2-pack is on the way. I'll report back next week if those program.

Hey guys, lost one of the key fobs from my 2006 last weekend and trying to figure out best way to replace. One small problem, my truck has a PX-6 radio and I no longer have security light to determine which key I currently have. Can you tell from the number on the immobilizer chip which it is? My chip has B-04285 stamped on it. @Mauser ?
Hoping I can buy a 12BBT/T29 and another key case & blank from YotaMD.

Sorry to hear that. I'll continue as I can to see if I can find one.

This site is another, I added it to my cart but will likely end up with unavailable.

I looked around a little bit and didn't find anything, but wondering if the keytag is the same as the US Cruiser and the difference is the frequency for the door lock transmitter.

I have a 1998 lc100, European. I have only one key, without remote, that seems to be the master (light turning off immediately when key inserted, and it locks the glove box).
If I understand correct, I need to buy an uncut key (random from ebay? Or it has a code?), make it cut by a locksmith and I should be able to make it work using my techstream, right? I don't need/care for the remote tbh. I just want a spare.

Not sure about European Cruisers, but here in the US ours use a 4C chip in the key. If you have a master deleting the old keys and adding new is easy with Techstream.

Mr. @Mauser Please advise me when you get a minute .

I have a 2002 LX470. I have a master key and transmitter that is fully operable.

Needed a spare so I purchased

Their add it says works for 2002 LX470

Model:
HYQ121512v, N14TMTX-1, 89070, TOY48, LXP90, TOY40

Inside the new case They sent to Me reads : PCCID: HYQ 12BBT
IC: 1551A-12BBT

I was able to program this new fob/key to work the ignition using Techstream & set up as a second master key.
The problem I'm having is programming it with the door lock/unlock procedure in post #14 of this thread.

Could a weak battery (the seller supplied a pre-installed battery) possibly cause the procedure in post #14 to fail?
Did they just send the wrong transmitter?

The problem I'm having is programming it with the door lock/unlock procedure in post #14 of this thread.

I originally used their instructions which not only did not program their fob, but also rendered my original master key fob inoperable
to remote lock/unlock doors until I found a thread here with the procedure.

Also in their instructions they want you to be Outside the Door (at the end)
when pressing the lock/unlock buttons on the fob together for one second and then press the lock button only for two seconds.

I sat in the seat to reprogram the lock/unlock on my original fob like post #14 shows and it worked first time no issues.
I tried the new fob both outside the door as well as sitting in drivers seat and always got the two lock/unlock sequence showing failure to program.

Could a weak battery (the seller supplied a pre-installed battery) possibly cause the procedure in post #14 to fail?

Take a look at my post. I bought two from ebay and the panic and unlock buttons were reversed so when I thought I was pressing unlock during programming I was pressing panic. Once I figured this out both keys programmed lock/unlock on fob no problem.

Interesting did you buy from 1010keys? and what is the post number? Thanks for the reply.

Yes and #135
Ok i read your post my panic button is on the correct side but i tried programming holding it and the lock together that did not work. I'm getting the feeling my seller shipped me a fob for a different year other than 2002. Thanks for your reply

Can anyone confirm that these numbers are correct for a 2002LX470 or point me to where that info can be found by model year.
Thanks

I need some advice. I have an 06 LC with only 1 key. It appears to be the master. I purchased 2 keys from keys4less (HYQ12BBT with chip 4D67). I was able to program the fob to open the doors, but I cannot program the transponder to start the truck. I opened the working key and it has an FC ID of HYQ-12BBT and an IC of 1551A-12BBT. Does this correspond to transponder chip 4D68? Is this also the “G” chip? The keys have been cut and work fine in the locks. I am hoping that I can order a new transponder with the correct chip and swamp them out. Would techstream work better for programming the keys, or do I still need the correct transponder? Thanks!

Edit: The ES330 key I ordered can be programmed as a master and works perfectly. I don’t like carrying a FOB all the time and like a simple single key most of the time.

For my 2006 LX470:

Today I tried to program that Valey / Sub Key as a Master but after reading a 2004 FSM, the Sub and Master Key is automatically determined.

What I really want is a Master Key, without the remote head that will work with the 4D67 style immobilizer.

What I found is the key for the ES330, PN 89785-60180 , 8978560180 - Transmitter, transpo. Interior, body, lock - Genuine Lexus Part - https://parts.lexus.com/p/69360674/8978560180.html

I ordered it from Longo Lexus, and will report back if it works.

This post was a while ago, but I agree. Different countries have different fob frequencies approved so in theory you should be able to buy a US (or anywhere else) spec transmitter/receiver (whatever you want to call it) and match the fob frequency to that. I would think that the harness plug would be a match to any receiver. I learnt this the hard way thinking it was a vehicle and year thing but alas no.

How I learned this was by wanting to get a ‘fully sick’ new flip key. Having nothing other than 60130 on my master key enclosure, nothing resembling a transmitter on the key circuit board to hopefully read the frequency, I ended up purchasing via info on here relating to the year model (12BBT as it’s an 07 MY06 LX (I know that doesn’t sound right. Its a compliance plate thing)). New keys arrived but couldn’t get the fob to program. I then checked the VIN and it has on 05 chassis number. Damn. Should have got a 1512V. Bought a couple of those and… BAPBOW. Still couldn’t program keyless entry. So its not 314Mhz and its not 312Mhz. WTF is it?

In desperation I removed the receiver from the rear quarter panel as apparently the FCCID was written on it. Once again nothing on the case or the circuit board (that I could spot then, but I was looking for a silver part with a number on it). The receiver casing was blue plastic and the photos I could find on here or were other colours (red and black from memory). All I got was a part number.

Somewhere along the line I found a post saying that some of the LX’s had a 304Mhz transmitter, so I bought one of those and programmed it first try. Next, I programmed the 4D68 chip with no issues and then had the key cut. Yay I have another working key!

Looking back at pictures of the circuit boards that I took I can spot 304 on one of the components of the transmitter/receiver (the bit in the car) but it doesn’t look like a transmitter you would see on a circuit board. You pretty much need a magnifying glass to read it hence why I took photos.

Later while looking into RTL-SDR’s (don’t ask) I was watching a tutorial and the guy spoke about different frequencies being registered in different regions of the world. It makes sense. I live in Australia, so Asia obviously has a different frequency allocation/registration to the Americas or Europe for the vehicle (I think I read somewhere that Canada is different to the US too).

If you are struggling to find what frequency any radio remote is, then the easiest way to figure it out is to purchase an RTL-SDR and read what is getting actually getting pumped out. They are relatively cheap and there are heaps of free software packages out there to read (and even transmit) frequencies. Just don’t get into hacking and transmitting anyone’s remotes or you may end up in pretty big trouble. SDR is pretty cool if you are a bit of a nerd. You can grab images off satellites, get information directly from planes and all sorts of other fun stuff.

Have fun and be good!

Awesome thread @Mauser. Thank you.
