I know that this has been discussed in the past but I can’t find it for the life of me. I want to refinish this dash cluster panel and need 4 simple decals that say “oil” “fuel” Temp” and “Amp”.
There are some on Ebay for $3 or $4 plus $16 shipping each. Is there a simple solution to this...
PO put in Bosch horns in non standard location and I’m sick of seeing BOSCH every time I open the hood. ;)
I’ve got new Denso horns on their way. I know that the passenger side mounts to the bracket on the radiator but I need a photo of where the drivers side horn mounts. Can anyone help me...
I just replaced my very old Ranchos with new Bilsteins. Downside up with no boots as recommended. Now it rides like a truck instead of a bus...
I drove around for a few miles-just flat roads-and noticed that the steering wheel seems out of center by a few degrees now. I don’t see how that...
I FINALLY completed the bench to bucket seat conversion on my 78 non-US 40.
Parts came from everywhere. Covers from Cruiser Outfitters. Seat bottom cushion from SOR.
Donor seats, brackets, and rails from several people. I learned to inspect and trial fit donor parts BEFORE you strip and...
I've got an original (judging by the wiring) Koito Trailer Socket and Switch. I'm trying to, first, figure out if it's working, and second, hook up a simple 4 wire socket to the vehicle. The socket is a unique 6 wire, radial blade design. This is on my 78 NON-US 40.
Does anyone have a wiring...
At my age, I thought I could recognize every automobile failure smell around.
Brakes or clutch burning, antifreeze, brake/clutch fluid, catalytic converter, melting rubber, gasoline, freon...
Today I had a distinct smell of "cap gun" while on the road. It hit me but I ruled it out as coming...
A bunch of Cruiser guys on the South Shore (some of whom aren't active on MUD, believe it or not) are getting together at 3:00 on Sept 28 at the parking lot at North Hill in Duxbury to be followed by a beer at the pub there. Marc Peterman (who has two cruisers) and I will be there and we expect...
Hopefully Pinhead or Jim or one of the other carb gurus will see this.
I rebuilt my carb a few months ago and it's been running great. When I did the rebuild, I verified that the vacuum diaphragm was holding and just remounted it. However, recently I did the paperclip test to see if my...
I'm a 40 owner with a 60 PS conversion. After adjusting the free play in my PS box, I notice a zerk in the plate that holds the adjustment screw. There is no sign of grease on the zerk but I'm assuming that's what it's there for. Am I correct in assuming that I should give it a few squirts...
I just removed my master to replace it and discovered that it has the rod integral to the master rather than to the booster. See photos below.
I looked my vehicle up in toyodiy and the booster part number matches the stamped plate on my booster (44610 60030). If I'm following it correctly...
I'm doing a 40-minitruck disk brake conversion and have read all of the threads.
I'm trying to decide whether to reuse my shims or use the SST tool. Being practical, and since I'm going to use the Marlin inner axle seals, I guess I'm inclined to just use the 'old' shims. But the question...
I'm doing a disk brake conversion and liked the idea of stainless hoses but was not so excited about the bling factor, the potential chafing issues, and the availability in the correct size. I found these and hadn't seen any threads about them- they are even DOT approved (if anyone cares)...
Ok, I've read every thread on this disk brake conversions and it appears that I may have a somewhat simpler task ahead of me. There are a ton of threads on disk conversion but not much on the late model non-us conversion. My vehicle is a 9/78 NON-US 40 with front drums. I think that this...
I just completed replacing all of the rear cylinders and shoes. Needless to say, the brake fluid drained the rear reservoir empty during the process. After I got everything back together, I did a basic adjustment and got ready to bleed as I always have.
I refilled the reservoir, cracked...
PO claimed a recent brake job but they weren't working quite right so I thought I'd check it out.
I pulled the rear drums and the first thing that I noticed is that the shoes are only touching the drum on about 30% of the shoe. (Dark part is normal wear, light part is original unworn shoe.)...
I'm going to do this tomorrow. There seem to be a lot of opinions on the best way to do this.
I'm not replacing springs, shackles, or bushings, just installing some shims and centering pins.
Unless I can be talked out of it, my plan is to jack it up and support the frame with jack stands...
What am I missing?! 78 with Trollhole Carb which has worked great until now.
All of a sudden, over the past couple of days, my rig won't idle once it has warmed up unless the choke is pulled out pretty much all the way. I can get it to lug along at 5-600rpm at 80%choke. It's clearly...
Ok, I'm waiting to hear what is wrong with what I've just done...
First of all, if you didn't know, the iPhone has a very accurate-repeatable (to a 10th of a degree) accelerometer built into it. There are several apps that measure angles using this. I use one called clinometer. I...
