Another huge positive I learned from the new owner is that @Mistral had the conversion done at EBI. If I would have known that I would have done a “full court press” on the others I was pimping this truck to. I bought a 62 a few years ago with a 12HT (from a halfcut) conversion the previous...
Man…I know, we all have one we wish we would have jumped on quicker. Had no idea our local friend was following the thread and he called me after committing to the truck. Super excited to see it when it arrives. I’m surprised it sat on the market as long as it did as it’s more than a fair deal.
And I can tell you it’s going to a very good home!!! Seems we are breeding the 12HT’s here in Central TX :). The new owner is a great guy and a true 60 enthusiast
You know what I love about this build (other than the 12HT, the color, year truck, full float rear, no rust)…the fact there’s no “rats nest” of wires visible anywhere. Very clean work.
I have never attempted to put in the stainless trim insert. I. It the same gasket and then install this rubber insert. I can take a picture of the part #. I pick it up on Amazon.
I’d recommend buying a Toyota gasket. And then I always buy a Chinese made windshield from my local glass guy for 60 installs (around $125ish). I’ve had good luck with them except for one I cracked installing into @LETSROLLEM ‘s 60 :(.
Man…way too many parallels here (except for the valve replacement). I’d love to talk with you to learn more about everything you’re sharing with us. Keep in mind I’m extremely biased to these drivetrains on a 60 and I can say without a doubt my personal build will never leave the Johnson home...
If anything you should only accept offers over your asking price. Don’t let it get to you. Sounds like you’re fortunately in a position to sit on the 60 until the right person comes along.
@BigHighBlue do you know anyone that’s expressed interest in this set up that may not be as active on...
Ha. Me too as I love the fact it’s an 87 and it’s silver. One of my favorite colors. And there’s great owner history in this build. You should buy it Mike and bring it to the barn and I’ll fix the AC and trans for you.
Enough said. Very well stated and by your explanation it’s obvious you’re a cruiser lover at heart. Thank you for sharing.
I absolutely love this setup hence the reason my 60 is built just like yours. I’ll be surprised if you’re not closing this out with a new owner by the end of the week...
Onur, you have to carve out time to be at the 10th annual. We need to get as many of the original group (20 something) in attendance next year. You can set the bar.
Being a clean rust free CA truck, this seems like a very low asking price. How long ago was the conversion done and did you do the work? How many miles on the drivetrain since the conversion? Also, how is the dash area and the rest of the truck not visible with the current pictures? Agree...
