had a chace to swing by the house. They are pretty close overall.

Only thing I wish they would have done was add the lip on the bottom of the front fender that holds the bolt attachment. But that will be easy to add.

Just a test fitting over the original so everything willnot line up until I've cut the pig. It's good to see new sheet metal for a 55 actually in the US.

Also bought the window channel rubber from the same place. From what I can tell it looks like an exact match. This might be a fix for the replacement everyone has been buying from JCwhitney that has been a little tight. Will post up when I get the old out and compare it to the new.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

I could use both of those pieces on mine but I'm reluctant to buy since the bottoms of the fronts are trimmed for fenders and the rears are trimmed for the bumper mods upcoming...

Let us know how they weld in!

how thick is the metal, similar to factory. ?

I did some on old camaro once that were made of very thick material and very tough to work.

look very close. wish I had a set:)

Very similar to factory. And I'm not gonna say they are perfect. Probably because the company has not made them for some time. But with just minor tweaking of the edges they will look perfect.

can you post up where you got the metal panels? can they be ordered on the internet?

They shipped the Australian Post. Were in perfect shape when I got them. I got them about 7 days after they shipped. It took them about a month and a half to make them. Something tells me that will be shorter next time.

My e-mails to them. Suzannah was very nice and always got back to me within a day.

Hi Marshall,

Sorry for the delay, I was away for the week. I’ve added up the total of the four rust panels along with the one bailey channel and, including freight, it comes to a total of $383.75. I’ll wait until I get a reply from you giving the ok before I go ahead and process the order. Cheers

Hi Marshall,

If you were to order the rear quarter’s as well then the freight will be $95.50. Those rear quarters will also be coming from the same guy so they won’t be in till mid Feb as well. I checked up on the rear corners and we can’t get them and won’t be making them. Unfortunately the pictures on the internet site are the only ones that we’ve got. If you would like to order those rear quarters than I can add them to your order, as I have not yet charged your card. Cheers

Well I actually got to work on the pig for the first time in a long time. Took the oil pan off and replaced the gasket. Found that whoever replaced it last did a terrible job. Half of the front part was shoved into the pan. There was also a lot of sludge in the bottom of the pad. Go figure it's 20yr old oil. Degreased the pan sanded it down and gave it a new coat of pain. Did the same for the flywheel cover. Looks good.

Now it's on to installing the gas tank and new fuel lines. Getting closer to starting on the body.

Marshall, went ahead and ordered a set of the rear quarters; PM sent;

I don't know why, but that typo gave me a good chuckle. :D

Things are looking good! I'm getting close to starting my sheet metal work, though I'm taking the easy way out and doing 3/4 to 7/8 metal, and 1/4 to 1/8 filler, so I can hand-form my stuff and not worry about it too much.

Can't wait to see how these panels look on your rig... maybe that will change my mind and make me go more metal

COuple of questions. Fuel gromet for the vapor lines. I noticed later models did away with this and went to a device that gives with tubes in it to seperate the inside to the outside better. Anyone know if the later style will work? Or should I just get a piece of rubber and make a new one?

Next is the exhaust. Can someone get me a picture of this angle looking at the stock exhaust location?
I need to see what it looks like for 55 with the exhaust that flows outside the frame rails then back under.

Marshal, this is the reply I got from rareparts in Australia;
Hi Lou,

Regarding your internet order, the panels that you have ordered we do not keep in stock. These panels have to be made and could take up to 2 months. I just recently had a customer order the same panels, also from the US and president of one of the Land Cruiser clubs in North America, who ordered them on the 23/1 and they were supplied on the 7/3. Just a warning that there will be a little bit of a wait. As for the rear corners, the previous customer also queried them but unfortunately they are not available. If you could get back to me via any of the options below so that I can get the panels on order.

Cheers
