Not Lexus related but about a month ago we deleted YouTube off of both TVs (including for me...no more auto/off-road channels) and took non-school laptops away. Our kids behavior, engagement in family life, and amount of chores they are doing drastically improved within a couple of days. They are people again instead of zombies.
Good to know! We need to do this with streaming services. My 5 year old will watch the same two movies three times a piece in a single day.

What got me started on this was listening to a Jonathan Haidt podcast on a long drive that was discussed how our current youth are just not flourishing compared to older generations. He actually indicated that letting kids watch movies and shows with actual stories (and some kind of a lesson/moral) is not really bad at all (we all grew up doing that), while letting them watch mindless YouTube videos or play solo video games without social interaction is pretty terrible for brain development. We still let our stream shows and watch movies, but just cutting out mindless YouTube crap probably reduced their screen time by 75%. They now go outside on their own to play instead of us having to make them do it.

If you're already not letting the mindless crap in, you are ahead of the game!

That makes me feel a lot better! We are definitely guilty of handing the kids our phones with YouTube kids at restaurants. It's gotten better as they get older, but it's rare that they don't ask at least once every time we're out to dinner.

i'm sure there are other sites like it, but willtheyfit.com is a great resource for comparing two sets of wheel/tire combos and gives you all of the delta measurement changes (change in poke, change in distance from strut, etc.) for making size decisions.

Okay, I admit, I didn't bother to watch the videos, so a quick question, how much are the filters and how often do you need to change them?

Supposedly the filters are good for up 800 gallons of water so it puts it around $.09 gallon

Just an example.. I noticed my home tap water was showing TDS around 100-110 ppm but after running through filter it dropped it down to to 5-7 ppm

Easily charges or runs off a USB-C connection up to 45 watts

The saddest fire I went to was one where some people had dispersed camped on foot thick duff. We could see where they'd built a fire and it had escaped their fire ring once. And then a second time where there was burned nylon from a tent or sleeping bag. They were long gone by the afternoon when it heated up and spread out to an acre or so. Maybe they learned a lesson from that.
Oh man, don't get me started on human caused fires in the wilderness. The majority of the ones we fight up here are manmade and they really piss me(us) off because they are entirely 100% preventable. The really infuriating part are most of the time these that get out of hand are from city folks and or people who are not "outdoors" types so they just don't care and are complacent with their campsite.

I'm thankful we here in this state care about forest management and as such we do not have the issues that California has so we are able to effectively fight them without too much trouble.

I will say, with the performance brake pads and big tires, atrac works so well that people spotting me though I had a locker.

I have only had one situation where I really felt like I could have used lockers and that was snow wheeling.
Sometimes there's just nutt'n like all 4 wheels spin'n. ;)

Regarding your tap water, how was the taste/flavor? I added a really good filtration system in my last home and it filtered too good. It made the water taste flat. Too many minerals were removed.

On road trips with my sister, anyone remember playing "Slug Bug"? 😆 My sister didn't care for that game.

I used to play with my grandma! lol but we tallied points instead.

This strips everything out and I would consider flat. This device is more about easily pulling water from very questionable water sources and removing significant TDS as well as bacteria and viruses.

One of my jobs for 20 years on ships was operation of the Evaps, sea water distillation plants. It is some of the purest water in the world. Boilers concentrate any containments at the rate of 10% an hour and still would do surface and bottom blows on them to keep it low.

Measured TDS at output discharge and if the electric connectivity between the probes even blipped above zero we would flip it from make up feed water to potable water. And ran oxygen scrubbers so no gasses were in it. Back in the day would inject Bromine into it to prevent bacteria growth, they used to do it for bread as well. Then discovered that it can cause cancer so went back to chlorine injection. Those were the only tastes to it. You get used to it :)

Never cared for organized camping but would occasionally drive into one to refill water. The Forest Service has the occasional hand pump scattered around especially at boat launches and would drive to one if it was nearby, 5-10 miles away, to refill. Used the collapsible 5 gallon jugs for a long time then finally broke down and got the Scepter military potable water containers.

As I moved away from tent camping to cabins dropped down to a couple of 2.5 gallon Scepter containers. But many cabins in Canada and Mn. do not have potable drinking water and you have to go fill your own containers. Those I still take the 5 gallon containers, ones with potable water at the sink I only carry the 2.5 gallon for day use in the woods.

Used to let the dogs drink out of the numerous water sources in the woods until blue green algae bloom started to hit. It will kill a dog so started packing water for them as well as me.

Once I started carrying water for them I started drinking more myself which was a good thing. Busting brush for miles all day I used to get cramps bad at night sometimes. Would do the funky monkey and end up on the floor flopping around, the Ex was no help she would say tell me again how what you do is fun? Thought I was drinking enough water but once I started carrying more was drinking more during the day and the cramps stopped. For the most part. Bananas, calcium supplements, pickle juice, they aren't the answer. Drink more water.

Water is good stuff and if I was younger and still camping a lot I wouldn't hesitate to get the RO system that @Acrad has. Lots of water available here but like being at sea it is not a good idea to drink it.

Yeah, I too am averse to regimented state or federal camp sites. When camping, I DON'T want to be 5 feet away from on either side, nor seeing or hearing my neighbors. The camp grounds we go to up in Huntington Lake are comfortably spread apart with lots of large pines and brush between them. Also, since it's our family, we'll be in about 5 campsites, probably clustered together, so we have some control over our immediate environment and they have flushing toilets, not pit's. So the only advantage of state or fed camps sites are the potties for my wife and if we're there long enough, showers.

Also, drinking outta your 'ol hat, looks like the dogs get plenty of salt and minerals! 😆
Seriously, speaking of that, I'm slowly converting ALL our camp cookware to the collapsing silicone pots, tea kettle, etc. We love that NOTHING sticks to it and pack up very compact. It's making my wife's camp cooking box lighter and smaller!

LHD's Bataan, Kearsarge and Wasp taught me to pay close attention to the 1MC. Sometimes water got yucky fast and could only imagine what a task it was to keep the good stuff flowing.

I bring my own from known sources when possible. After that I can filter into a small pot, bleach and boil to the CDC's satisfaction.

I just pee up stream and drink down stream. er... wait, or is it drink up stream, pee down stream?
