My AC condenser skid plate prototype arrived! Fits like a glove for a bumper cut GX460. I’m testing this on a stock bumper GX this weekend with and without the air deflector so I can guarantee a wider range of fitment including possibly using the stock black brackets.

Love the skid. I'd be interested in one w/ factory attachement to hangers without bumper cut out and powder coated black alum if eventually available.

Do you have a template or some type of dimensions on how much on needs to trim up the front lip? Or will most any trimming work?

Most trimming should work! This sits behind the bumper lip. I am testing this on a stock GX460 soon to see compatibility with the black brackets. It will require that gray plastic air piece to be removed though at a minimum.

This last photo, I think, is the best at showing it off! 👍

Looking good. Let us know how it fits stock bumper with “gray plastic air piece” removed (including lots of pics). That’s what I plan to do once the snow melts. BudBuilt front aluminum skid, black powder-coated aluminum, so it would be great if yours offered a powder coat option!

Final prototypes are here!

This is the complete front protection package. Both side plates for the bumper cut and an AC condenser skid. Testing the condenser skid on a stock GX this weekend and will be testing the bumper plates on my GX as well. Really close to releasing these for sale!

Love the progression and willingness to share.
I may have missed it, what are we looking at for total weight on all three pieces and do you intend to ship with hardware or buyer sources ? (Hardware always seems to be a finicky piece)

Stoked to get my order in when avail!

Total weight will be rather low as all 3 pieces are aluminum but I don't have a total just yet!

I have sourced hardware for all plates. Brackets, bolts, washers and nuts have been ordered.

Any concerns about the one side plate leading to less airflow in the secondary air intake? Just curious if it would be an issue before ordering. Also any future plans for black powder coated options?

I'm still working on the condenser skid but that is the plan!

Need to test the skid on a stock GX which I'm doing this coming weekend!
Sounds good. I’m overdue for a bumper cut and bolting on some aftermarket recovery points on my 2015. I’ll be in the market for a set of plates when you have them available.

There's a small opening on the front of the plate where it meets the bumper crash bar which allows airflow in as well as the vents in the fender liner.

I've put a few hundred miles on my GX with these plates with no issues. The plates don't completely seal off the area, they are more to protect the washer fluid bottle from large debris, air intake area from large water splashes and of course giving you a place to attach the fender liners if you cut them.

No plans for powder coating right now. I'm a 1 man operation and I with my full time job, adding powder coating to the mix would be difficult. Trying to keep the costs down so folks can modify these if they wish.

Awesome thanks for the info and totally get the 1 man operation deal. Will be ordering some soon.
