Extension was going on today, but I used my new impact to take out the original skid plate and I think I screwed up the threads….if not me, then the oil change guys. Tomorrow we tap and try again with RCI skids.

So I got my RCI engine skid on today, and don’t see how this would work with it. Do you have pics of the mounting surface? I may need to drill holes in the filler plate where the front of the RCI skid mounts….

The skid extension was only tested with the stock skid plate.

On the stock skid setup, those 2 mounting points are not used therefore the skid extension can utilize them. It appears that RCI skid adds a lot of bulk to that area unfortunately.

This is the skid plate tester:

Bummer. Looks like it’s time to drill some holes!

Bump for a great idea and execution. At first I thought the slots were overkill and a bit sloppy, bring some large washers with you LOL. But turns out they were perfect.

I have support brackets on the bumper after the cut so needed to drill a hole for the bracket bolt in the plate. Despite the great scribing job I did, hey I was a machinist mate (propulsion engineer) in the Navy for 20 years, but it wasn't perfect. However the way the slots allow for adjustment it worked out well.

3 point attachment as well now, it isn't going anywhere. In another month I'll be removing them to get undercoating done and depending on the weather then may paint them. Or not, no one is going to see them unless they climb underneath.

Exactly what I needed in the land of 10,000 lakes. With another 10K+ beaver ponds in the middle of the road. Less worry doing water crossings, and I do a lot of them.
