Selling my 1970 roller…

I was very excited to do this build, have all the parts together, pulled the leaky 305/turbo400/willys transfer case, bought a 5.3/4L60e, and a split case with an adapter and then ended up buying a rig that was already swapped.

This roller is perfect patina IMHO, toyed with the idea of body swapping with my new purchase but couldn’t bring myself to again not have a runner for who knows how long, so I’m selling the roller…

Very little rear sill rust (much less than my current 40), perfect patina, looks to be a pretty complete interior. Surface rust underneath but not perforation or scaling really, my plan was to wire wheel and soak it with fluid film…

Full disclosure, I paid 12K + shipping a few years ago from Montana, I’m not expecting to get that all back but that’s where I’m starting on price.

If you’re within 4-5 hours from Atlanta, I may be able to help with transport…

Better (a little cleaner) pictures in my build thread here

Also have a great LS swap drivetrain (listed locally) and a split case (in classifieds here)… happy to talk about making a deal for all of it if that’s your plan…

Love it! Somebody is going to get an awesome patina platform to build their dream truck on. Wish it was me!

Thanks bud... I really love this body so much, I've held onto it for 4 years and was finally ready and then @SipLife 's rig fell into my lap and I can't have all em (just most of em). As cathartic as it sounds, I was mostly looking forward to the patina preservation part of this, with the CLR scrub, the cut and buff of the original paint, and then the Fluid Film coating... this rig doesn't need any more than that for a long time. I hope whoever buys it keeps the patina bc this one is sexy.

Looks like the twin of my blue 11/69. GLWS. Edit...I do remember this one from your build thread. Beauty!View attachment 3905614
Gosh... now THAT is what I'm talking about... that's what I think my roller can be... VERY sexy rig my friend!!

This rig would be perfect for a project... and I have a lot of the parts you'll need if you want to do an LS swap, split case, adapter, crossmember for transmission, LS donor, FJ62 front and rear end, Vintage AC unit, even have a way to transport it to ya if it's not too far... HMU.

If a potential buyer even mentions the possibility of painting this 40 please do not sell it to them!

I truly hope whomever takes over this rig doesn't paint it... "NO SOUP FOR YOU!!" -from Seinfeld...

I wish I had space for a project because that body is fantastic!

I will say, as someone that's had toooooo many projects, that the amount of time/money/effort saved by starting with a pretty good donor body like this, usually is the better idea than fixing what you got. I'm about to have my repair sill repaired on the 40 I purchased, and it is not cheap at all............................... this one can be treated and left for many many years to come and the patina can be preserved, not to mention the other good parts, jump seats, original bench, good steering wheel, etc.

I wish there was a way to get an estimate form Nolen or Georg to get this thing on the road with a simple 2f and 4sp. $20k? $30k? $First Born?

I'm really not sure I could handle following a @wngrog thread getting this one back on the road, I would be too upset that I didn't do that to begin with, so that is not allowed.

There’s so much risk for anyone to look at this and say “oh hell, that’s only $15k to get it driving”

Nearly impossible for someone to ballpark it, so it almost needs to be a project for someone with the time and skills to turn the wrenches themselves, at their pace

I took as good as a look as possible with pictures as I love the color and patina, but it would take some real time and effort to get going. Reversing the SBC swap will require some work to get the factory mounts back on, the wiring is certainly questionable as well. The 3-speed linkage is still there but will probably need parts as it was modified for use with the auto. Jesus888 was on the right track with his plans for this rig, I think that would be an easier route than going back to stock sadly. Some cosmetic stuff will need addressed like the hardtop appears to bent above the windshield, driver's floor pan has some holes in it, and that rear sill will be due in the future. It looks so darn awesome though!

I think your new cruiser needs an older brother...
