I ended up buying an already LS-swapped 40 and I've got a lot of new, never used, parts that I'll be listing here. Pics will come when I have a moment to take them, but making a preliminary list along with the price I paid. Again, these are new, never-used parts in most cases, so I'm not trying to take a bath, but I am willing to make someone a better deal than purchasing retail...
  • SOLD Paid $1,930: (NEW) VINTAGE AIR SUREFIT GEN IV KIT 1968-83 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER FJ40 NO COMPRESSOR Part #941200
  • Paid $600: (USED) FJ62 Front and Rear ends with 4.11s, open diffs, was gonna use the rear and harvest knuckles and disc brakes from front
  • SOLD Paid $467: (NEW) FJ40 Gas Tank Assembly (new from Toyota) Part #77100-60012
  • Paid $2,950: (USED and Completely refurbished) 34 mm splitcase (fully rebuilt by @cruisermatt) , AA 4l60e adapter part #50-0408a, OEM Transmission Mount, CruiserMatt's custom 4L60e Crossmember that should help locate the engine to the perfect spot... perfect set up for someone doing an LS Swap in their 40.
  • SOLD Paid $1150: (NEW) OME 2.5" lift light duty leaf springs, OME spring bushings (4), FJ40 Stock-Style Greaseable Shackle/Pin Kit Early-79, 4 degree steel caster shims
  • Paid $151: (NEW) LS Swap 4L60e Pre Bent Transmission Cooler Line LS1 LS2 LS3 LS6 LS7 Stainless
  • Paid $2,207: (USED) Chevy Silverado 1500 for the 5.3 V8 and 4L60e (120K miles)
  • Paid $12,000: 1970 FJ40 in my build thread here ... we pulled the 305/Turbo 400/Willy's split case, I am going to swap hoods with the one I purchased, but otherwise it's pretty much as it is in my thread. Great for a patina build...
The more you wanna buy, the more I'm willing to make a deal, especially if it includes buying my roller and maybe the Chevy (or even just the parts you need from Chevy)... HMU, I will be getting pictures of everything within the next week or 2.

HEY

qhow adaptive is your split to a oem 1977 fj40?
ride to 95602?
pics?
I am not 100% sure, and really at this moment I’d rather sell the split case/adapter/crossmember together because it’s set up perfect for an LS swap with a 4L60e auto…

It seems like a super common swap and I’m thinking it’ll be a good setup for someone doing the swap…

If that changes, I’ll definitely update the thread.

Going to get some good pictures of the roller and all of the parts on Thursday this week. If anyone has specific inquiries for pictures HMU and I’ll take em!

WOW. Just looked at the thread and pics, and there appears to be no rust in the back lower corners, or the right side barn door. Nice. If I wasn't already up to my eyeballs on mine, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Where are you located?

I’m in Atlanta… and you can always have 2 🤷🏾‍♂️

Truthfully, I actually considered body swapping my current with this one bc it’s in such good shape but I have a driver at the moment and I think my wife would like to keep it that way.

It’s a great roller though… everything (except the drivetrain) is there and in good shape with honestly the best patina…

My game plan all along, since I bought mine last year, has been to at some point by a second one so that someday I could give each one of my sons one of them for a wedding gift. They could then keep them and drive them or they could sell them and put the money down on a house. But, I don't know that my wife would survive if I were to spend the money to buy another one right now. She might have a stroke! The last time I mentioned it she said, "Finish this one first before you jump into another one." LOL! And, this first one was meant to just rebuild the engine, which was supposed to all be there just disassembled and in the back, and drive it as is with the patina. Once it got here and we unloaded the engine from the back the crank and all the pistons were gone, and the paint had undergone a color change that was so badly done that every gap and seam was a different color, so I just decided to repaint it will the drivetrain was out of the way. So in all fairness to my wife, it has become a money pit compared to what the original thought / purpose was.

I wish I could still wrench, weld, and do the things I used to do. I'd buy all the components you have and the Silverado to be able to LS swap this FJ40 or the next one. Hey, my wife is from GA, got her Masters at Kennesaw, and used to be a Forensic Investigator with the GBI.

On the already LS swapped FJ40 you bought, how do you like it? Is it 4 wheel drive, or rear wheel only?

That Vintage Air Sure Fit A/C system is a great setup at a great price! I've been a fan of Vintage Air since I was building Street Rods 30 years ago. I was #2 to get this system and excited when #1 passed so I could get it (especially here in hot humid Florida)! But Murphy's Law bit me in the butt yesterday when a medical provider called to inform us that insurance wasn't covering something and we would have to pay a 4 digit medical bill. 🤬 Stinkin' insurance companies don't mind taking your premiums, but they also don't mind denying paying doctors.

My loss is someone else's gain. Great A/C system!

I’m watching counting my Pennie’s on the vintage air kit.

I need to get the LS running first though.
Let me know... she's safe in the garage in the unopened box!
