Only need a couple hundred bucks the second go-round.Ls swap it twice
Only need a couple hundred bucks the second go-round.
Why a turbo?Radiator, any cooling hoses that haven't been replaced, Wits End blue fan clutch and water pump. Then, add the balance to a turbo fund for the future
I will order two now. Thanks.Yes, you need to install new Fusible Links. Buy two sets, keep one set in the glove box in back. These are specifically designed to keep from burning your truck to the ground. This is a high priority thing.
Thanks. I will make this a priority.BTDT before I knew better and almost burnt down the 80.
Will do. Thanks!^What he said. That isn’t regular wire. It’s more like a slow blow fuse. By replacing with regular wire you are essentially running a circuit with a shunt installed in place of a fuse.
Why a turbo?
I currently have zero rust. That was a selling point when I bought this vehicle. Part of that is probably because I think the previous owner did not fix any leaks for about 250,000 miles. Every thing underneath the vehicle had a nice water and salt proof coating on it when I bought it.New window runs would be a good project! Personally I'd invest some of that cash into a spray gun and compressor and do some rust prevention.. pneumatic wire wheel all around the frame and axles to get any surface rust down to a minimum. Then coat with some Corroseal and a top coat. You love the beach as much as I do so you could also use your spray gun to apply a fluid film or wool wax.
Oh it is slow, what kind of gains would I see from the turbo? If it doesn't feel slow to you, don't worry about it. If you want to cruise at 75 mph from coast to coast at all elevations and road grades, then you may want a turbo at some point.
I've done it. I left that off.Starter
I've got one. I have it mounted on the rear bumper. Thinking of putting a water tank under there. Not sure yet.dont forget a matching spare tire, you can fit 33'' under the back.
How much for an LS swap? Really? There are lots of numbers out there. All said and done, what would it cost me for the whole deal?LS swap it
I have thought of that. I am about to redo the weather stripping.Weld the sunroof shut or make it so it works and seals.
Sound system is definitely on the list. What did you spend to get the leather redone, if I may ask?Sounds like you are really covered. There are some other small items that others already mentioned.
How is your interior? This is not mechanical, but one of the best refurbs I did was new leather and seat foam. Made such a huge difference in how much I enjoy driving the vehicle. That and a decent sound system.
