Checked the knuckles for grease. DS was really low. I knew a knuckle job was in my future and have everything to do it but just haven't had the time.

Then I checked the passenger side and forgot the PO had replaced the square head bolt with this. Probably not a bad mod IF it was fully threaded and a shorter bolt. I have an awful feeling that there is damage in there. Stacking some washers and will pick up a shorter bolt tomorrow and swap out in the parking lot at work.

And I used my patented ziploc method for filling my knuckles. Worked flawlessly and took about 30 seconds to fill them. And no mess.

I believe oem is about a 1/2" or 5/8" piping plug (may be metric--never tried to replace it). I have a few on hand. I'll see if i can get one to fit and let you know.

3/8" is the closest sae equivalent. It will fit in the hole and drive down about 1/4" but it's obvious there's a metric/sae difference in size. I don't suppose Lowes would stock metric plumbing supplies?

Nope. No metric plumbing supplies. So, I'm guessing that I will probably be tapping the knuckle in the future. The bolt he used went back in without a problem. Wasn't stripped out. I'll do some investigating...

write a pleasant email to wagongear!....let him know that you are in dire need of his 3rd windows and that there are many others waiting on his return.

If the threads aren't damaged see if you can get one off someone that's parting out. I'm keeping my axles or I'd give you mine! Are you sure it's not something you can get from the dealer for $2?

I'm sure it's probably a couple bucks from the dealer. Not too concerned about it.

What would be the concerns of using w non tapered metric bolt in there? Just curious if any damage has been caused to the threads. When I put it back in it seemed fine.

Ordered a new plug from my local dealer. $6 as well.
