For sale 1973 fj40 Must see. I’m the Third owner, the truck was purchased in Truckee Ca. Then went to red river or angel fire NM. The second owner purchased in NM a took it to waco tx. I bought the truck in 2008 and drove until 2012. I parked it and was going to start making some upgrades. I rebuilt the front end with mini truck knuckles and disks. I moved the alternator and bought the power steering mounting brackets from Georg, but I haven’t installed it. Brackets and power steering box and pump go with. The seats are from some donor vehicle. I have the factory seat mount, but didn’t like the way the seats were installed, so I was going to go back to stock. That was on the to do list.

I am looking for one I can jump in a drive as I am not that mechanical and am really just looking to enjoy one without a lot of issues if this is possible. kinda want as modern as it can be upgrades I guess is what I am trying to say.power steering shocks and such.

This is an difficult post for me, but I am going to have to sell my FJ40 project, which has been years in the making. I am now without a job before I head back to graduate school, and feeding a growing FZJ80 is a tough thing to do, in addition to a frame-off restoration and no consistent income.
The story begins in 2013, when I purchased a rusty, mustard yellow FJ40 from a small auto shop in Hyannis, MA (Cape Cod)--they were selling for an elderly gentleman (90, or so). I was in Rhode Island for the Navy at the time, so I rode out with a friend to the cold yet beautiful Cape Cod to check out a 40 with potential, which was posted on CL in Boston. Selling my Fj40 project frame off restoration. Has been frame off restored with new aluminum tub. Has 66k 1976 2f, two 4-Speeds one with case. 1973 71k original miles on axles and frame. Drum brakes on all four. Lot of new parts included along with set of Toyota chromes with 31s. Selling as I Maybe moving in next few months and have other Fj40’s Projects. Restoration has been well done only tried to use original parts. No top other than new aftermarket but older soft top in attic with soft doors. Have jump seats and spare tire rack assembly that matches body paint work. Have most all parts needed to assemble complete other than radiator and support, front bumper, battery tray, few other small parts may be needed.

Truck is in decent shape solid frame and chassis. Runs and drives, Has new Bfg mud terrains 33x1050 on new factory steel Toyota rims wheels. 130k original miles 2f six cylinder Engine Four speed trans. Has all emissions still in place, has exhaust leak around egr tube cooler. Truck has rust in corners and typical areas frame and most of body had been under coated so is in pretty good shape.

Not for the purists, but thought I'd see if someone was interested in giving this project some love. Runs strong but I don't have the time or skills for the necessary tub/frame work. I cut the plow off, but it could easily be welded or bolted back on. I purchased it from a mechanic that used it to clear his lot for 30yrs. It has an old Ford 302 conversion and I have an '89 5.0/302 that I was going to swap in. 6k with the working Western plow. 8k with 5.0/302 and extras.

I joined up a while back and had a post similar to this one. Long story short, my wife and I were unable to find a 40 that we wanted to pull the trigger on which is probably a good thing since it gave us some time to get out finances in better order.
We are back in the market for our first FJ40 -
The vehicle would mainly be used for my wife and I to enjoy around town, taking to meets, light off-roading, packing up our two dogs and some fishing gear up and taking a day trip - That kind of thing.
What we are hoping to find:
- 1975+ FJ40 that hasn't been completely molested
- Definitely want something that has the original 2F
- Hopefully something that runs and drives
- Something that needs some work is perfectly...
Looking for a 1975-77 FJ-40 in very nice condition with little to no rust in stock paint color, (not beige or white), with 4 speed, 2F engine in great running shape, ambulance doors, hard top, prefer front disc brakes. Take one perfect 1994 80 series Land Cruiser with 130K and one perfect 1978 40 series and create the FZJ40.
The build was documented heavily on Ih8mud's form under "Ultimate Cruisers FZJ40"(google it).

This listing is for a friend of mine. He is selling his 1972 FJ40. It has a SBC 350 with a 3 speed manual, he just had the clutch done a few days ago. Has 4 wheel discs, 4 brand new Falken AT 31" tires, and some more goodies. The car has a brand new steel body tub (no rust anywhere). He doesnt have the hard top but it does come with a BEST top. The roll cage and bumpers were replaced. He replaced the wiring harness, the radiator, and the exhaust. Also has a lockable storage box.
The car has been painted with Rhino Liner, so it could use a regular paint job if you want, but it still looks cool. He recorded a video of it running a few months back which I included below. He has a clean CA title for the car. He is asking $8950...
