Hey, I am new to this forum and forums in general. I have really fallen in love with the fj40s and I am looking to purchase one and travel about 1000 miles for the perfect one. Please send them my way. I wanted to get your thoughts on a car that I saw for sale on ebay. I have attached the link below. 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser The owner claims that it is an all original car, matching numbers, original engine, tranny, paint, and one owner prior. He alas claims it has the original 38000 miles. I asked him to prove all this and he said it is not really possible and doesn't have records. I am wondering how I can identity if this information is true. Also what I should be looking at specifically when buying an fj40. What years are...
Thoughts on this 40?
It's a 74 with a 4-speed in running and driving condition. Does have a bit of rust (as all of them do) although imo not too bad. Worst spot looks to be the cowel panel. Current owner says it will need a carb rebuild at some point soon. Supposedly frame is in good condition although still waiting for visual documentation. It has a rebuilt title - PO says a different PO got struck where the cowel panel dent/rust is and that resulted in a rebuilt title. Positives - new sheet metal flooring in drivers and passenger sides, front disks, new gas tank, new tires, rear sanded down and painted, new battery. Asking $8500 which seems on the high side to me. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
1971 fj40 in Orange County California
New to the site and to fj40's. I have been poking around the site forum for a couple weeks now and figured it was time to post. I am interested in someday buying an fj40 but am being very patient in purchasing cause I know I have a lot to learn. So This fj is near me (50 miles) and has caught my eye but I want some opinion before I drive out to look. I realize they are all "pretty pictures" and probably don't show any of the issues...would love any input anyone is willing to offer. Thanks 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 1973 Project
This FJ40 was bought fully running a few years ago. I drove it and did upgrades which I will list below. The tub had a lot of rust, and I decided to do a complete restoration. Work has kept me from completing the project, so it needs to go to someone else to finish. I've rebuilt a few FJ40s/FJ62s and own another fully restored FJ40. I tried to add a lot of pictures around all the parts I have. I have already bought or have most of the things needed to get it restored. Work Already Done: - New wheels and tires - 2inch lift - Eastwood rust frame coating - Differentials Serviced - New Clutch and Transfer Servicing - Wheel, Door Handle, Mirror arms have all been power coated - SBC V8 conversion - New waterproof Painless Wiring Harness -...

71 FJ40 Sacramento CA $1500
I have an FJ40 rolling chassis with f145 motor, 3 speed, and all other drivetrain. The tub needs help as seen in pix (has had some previous rust repair and the drivers floor was taken out) and the front clip is missing. I do have some parts such as a hood, windshield, etc that could be made into a package deal. PM me or call/text 916 955 5361 for more info. Thanks Rob I have a donor tub you can have with it for a couple hundred dollars or so to steal the floor out of it, or I have a better tub for sale for $800 if someone wants to make a deal on the roller and tub.
Hey, I am looking for a pair of soft doors for my 73 FJ40. Specifically the Kayline brand, the ones with two windows on each door. I want those specifically because I know that many doors don't fit with the factory hard top. I will obviously pay shipping. (I am on west coast US.) Please reply to this or DM me with any offers. Thanks!
1980 FJ40 completely restored in PA
Selling a very nice FJ40 for a friend to settle an estate. This truck was the pride and joy of her partner who died suddenly last year. He had Cruiser Solutions in New Hampshire find a restorable 1980 FJ40 for him in January 2006. Invoice shows they charged $2500 for the truck. Subsequent invoices from Cruiser Solutions total more than $55K, yes that's correct. The invoices cover a wide gamut of new parts and work done to the truck, and I have a copy of all the receipts. Looks like the last receipt was dated November 2007 so I assume that's about the time Joe took posession of his 40. A lot of the later receipts show discounted labor pricing I can only assume that Joe was getting a bit concerned about the dollar amount of his...
