Hi guys, just joined site on rec from a buddy of mine. I've followed lots of threads, just swamped with kids and really couldn't participate. That makes me an unknown entity, I know. This is the basic CL post I've got running here in Portland, as well as the major west coast cities. More pics located there. Limited to 5 here.

Extremely little rust for these crawlers. Lived in high desert Idaho/Eastern Washington, stored for 20 years, then came to Portland area approx 5 yrs ago. 1978 FJ 40
Hi all. I am in San Antonio, TX. I have never purchased an FJ before and am very far from having an experienced eye in evaluating one for purchase. This one is available not too far from me and I have spoken with the seller about seeing it later today.
Can y'all please give me some input on what your experience/expertise tells you about this rig. Anything in the pictures/description that sticks out as good/bad? What about price?

With so many other projects going were going to put our 1962 FJ40 up for sale. asking $ 5000. This is as complete a 1962 as I have seen. Motor and trans are missing, front turn signals and the trans cover has been modified for a floor shifter other than that everything is in good shape for a rig 55 years old. $5,900 Cdn - This classic FJ40 comes with roll cage, Warn winch, tall jack, CB radio, original spare tire, stereo, rear cab heater, 33" Hankook MT rubber and more. The frame is solid, the truck works great and is driven almost daily, 6 cylinder gas with new carb, comes with replacement fenders, hundreds of dollars worth of spare parts and is a solid off road performer. Located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The vehicle is fully functional and while it has some rust it is essentially sound and can be driven as is or restored.
Sitting on the local main drag - just a block away from the annual end of the week long supercar show display of Ferrari's, Lambos, GT40's, etc. etc. Probably hoping to reel in someone off the foot traffic....
Looked like a really nice top, maybe euro or one of Ehsans with the ambulance door uppers, but not much more worth noting. Bodywork looked decent - but as shown in pics, not quite commensurate with the price.
In the market for a 1965 or older fj40, prefer as rust free as possible, prefer factory corrugated hard top. Let me know what you have,

Hee hee. They're kinda proud of this one.
Pic 15 shows the switch for the Vader light and a plugged hole in the dash where the light would go.
I don't see FST hinges...and it's unlikely this was an FST that someone put a top on then pulled the Vader light off.
Did some hard top 40s come set up for the Vader/map light?
I have a factory condition stock fj40 no rust no body damage green stock 6 cylinder 3 speed on the floor with extra doors and boxes of spare parts only modification is a Weber carb this is a California car

I have beenreading threads for a while, but never posted...I figured now is a good time since I am looking for a 40 and prices seem to have mostly gone through the roof!
I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea of pricing, or what I can expect in price ranges. I see everything from $5-$40K. I am looking around the 10-15 area and want to put work into it. Looking for mostly stock if possible.
Any info is greatly appreciated!

Or even the classified here? There are several I'm interested in that seem like good deals, but without being able to closely inspect and test drive these rigs, how do you know your making the right choice? Especially on eBay, where sellers can be not-so above board when describing their rigs. At least here, there is sort of the "social contract" we have amongst the forum members and the wish to uphold our reputation here.
ok, so I'm earnestly looking to purchase a 40. I have cash in hand as well as a pre-approved loan from my bank. Currently I have 2 possibles from this forum, as well as 2 from eBay. Thought I'd try another approach to see if anyone has a 40 as I described in the title. Rust free is priority. The reason this is my secondary COA (course of action) is that I'd really like to do a custom paint job, so a pristine, restored 40 would be wasting a good/great paint job.
So what ya got???
