Details

Hi All,

I am considering letting go of my FZJ80. It is a 1997 White with Oak interior, 264,xxx miles. It was sold new in the San Francisco area and spent several years in CA up to 2016. Then was sold to 2 owners in Texas, one of which was a Land Cruiser specialty shop.

I specifically set out to find the cleanest White final year 80 series I could that would be the perfect candidate for an OEM refresh. I found this 80 in Texas and flew down to inspect it in person.

It passed my inspection and exceeded my expectations, so I bought it and shipped it to Illinois where it has been stored in a climate-controlled garage during the winter months. I have put about 2,500 miles on the truck. This is one of several Land Cruisers I own and only used during fair weather weekend drives. It has not been used in the snow or salt. Once the truck arrived at my garage, I began perfecting it the best I could. Mechanically it was already well sorted. Electric windows, AC, heat, sunroof, stereo, electric seats all work as they should. So, I began a no expenses spared cosmetic restoration using only Toyota OE parts wherever possible.

Some highlights below:
-Final year 1997 FZJ80
-Clean CarFax
-No accidents
-No rust
-Original single stage 045 White paint on all panels verified by paint meter (except for the front turn signal valance which I had repainted due to rock chips). I specifically only looked for a White original paint truck because it does not suffer from clear coat failure like most 80 colors.
-All OEM VIN tags on door jams, doors, fenders, hood, lift gate, and tail gate.
-Extensive documentation and service records. This 80 was Toyota dealer serviced for the majority of its life and was meticulously maintained.
-Non smoker

Since I purchased this truck in June of 2025 I have replaced several parts to refresh it, mostly on the exterior. I should note that none of this was necessary, as this was a super nice 80 to begin with. I just wanted to make it 100%. All parts were replaced with new OE Toyota parts and I have all receipts and documentation for everything. To do the OEM refresh listed below was around $6k in parts.

-New OEM Front Grill
-New OEM Front Turn Signal and Lenses L&R

The only flaw I can think of is there are a couple chips in the windshield.

OEM Running boards and flaps are included.

When I was done with the OEM refresh I had the truck professionally paint corrected and ceramic coated last Fall which transformed the paint and made it like new again. The single stage paint was machined polished and coated with 2 layers of Gyeon Infinite. The wheels were coated with Gyeon Evo, and all glass with 2 layers of Gyeon view. The cost to do this was around $2k.

This 80 is a real time capsule, mostly stock, and very original. It presents like it has under 100k miles and needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. It is a joy to drive and runs great. Everything works, and I would not hesitate to jump in it tomorrow and drive it across the country. It needs nothing and is ready to be enjoyed. It is obvious it has been well cared for its entire life and never been wheeled or abused. I am in no rush to sell and glad to hold onto it, but I am open to selling since it isn’t being used as much as I would like.
