Nice truck, runs and drives nice with power steering. We just did a complete tune up on it. It had rust in the rear quarters, rear sill and driver floor pan all of which were replaced. I have pics of all of the rust repair. The paint is old and chalky but would buff up nice I think. Sorry the pics are bad. I will take more tomorrow. The front seats are reupholstered, the rears are in good condition. I have a new headliner on order that will go in before it leaves the shop. I will sell it as is for $15K and someone can either repaint the whole truck or just blend in the repairs, or we will finish the restore for $28K with all new cosmetic parts and interior.

I purchased this truck about a year ago because I always wanted an FJ40 because my father had one when I was a kid. I brought it home and cleaned it up a bit as well as wired it to get all the requirements to register in KY. I do not use it as the off roader that it was meant to be. I simply drive around the neighborhood and bring my kids to the pool in it. I just got another sports car so I need to make room so I can put my daily driver back into the garage.

It underwent a re paint 3 years ago in Japan in it's original color mustard yellow 532 and I have since brought it over to the US, legally. It is registered and titled in Oregon. I continued to put a great deal of work and time into it over this year and it's a real gorgeous ride. I have done my best to maintain it's original factory look, as it was originally presented in Japan from the dealer in 1977, only variance being the white wheels / bumpers. It's on a frame... frame is garbage. Tub has had steel welded in on the rear (no tailgate now), floor and the sides....did a fairly decent job of it too.
I was going to use it for a trail tub.. damn sure going to be harder to damage it. I was thinking about spraying it with polyurea and calling it a day.
Not only that but it has 4 matching Hurricane wheels in great shape with decent tires on em! Axles are under it, no engine/trans/tcase.
Not sure about the year... early 70's I'm pretty sure...

I purchased this truck in Los Angeles in approx. 2006. I understand that this was the 2nd or 3rd owner and that the truck was originally a “forest service” vehicle used in the Riverside/San Bernardino hills. This is what I was told but I never researched this after purchase.
I immediately took it to my mechanic (of 20+ years) and asked him to go through it and make it as fresh as possible, mechanically. This included a valve adjustment, replacing all belts, hoses and clamps, breaks, etc. It has an aftermarket carb (Webber I believe) and runs perfectly overall.

I bought this back in June/2017. I will share everything I know about it so I don't waste your time or my time. I'm a mechanic if that helps. I was planning to drive it until winter came around to start a frame off resto but I won't have the time for that any longer.

It's a 67 FJ40. Mileage is unknown (Aftermarket Tach/ODO says 14,000 miles) but lets get down to the mechanical (One of the previous owners was a hack).
It's got a bench seat in the back but all the seats are in bad shape. It's got an auxiliary gas tank under the driver's seat. Install was terrible on that and several other things.
I put a new alternator, Bilstein 5100 all around, rebuilt...
