1974 FJ40 Frame off complete restoration.
My friend decided to fix the paint scheme. Now it's back up for sale. I’m selling this awesome Land cruiser for a friend of mine. He was a professional mechanic before MS made it impossible to work full time. This was rebuilt with no expense spared. Unfortunately he needs money more than a land cruiser at this point. The cruiser looks fantastic and runs down the road like new. If you need more pictures or have any questions please ask. $55,000 or best offer. I have beenreading threads for a while, but never posted...I figured now is a good time since I am looking for a 40 and prices seem to have mostly gone through the roof! I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea of pricing, or what I can expect in price ranges. I see everything from $5-$40K. I am looking around the 10-15 area and want to put work into it. Looking for mostly stock if possible. Any info is greatly appreciated!
Or even the classified here? There are several I'm interested in that seem like good deals, but without being able to closely inspect and test drive these rigs, how do you know your making the right choice? Especially on eBay, where sellers can be not-so above board when describing their rigs. At least here, there is sort of the "social contract" we have amongst the forum members and the wish to uphold our reputation here.
ok, so I'm earnestly looking to purchase a 40. I have cash in hand as well as a pre-approved loan from my bank. Currently I have 2 possibles from this forum, as well as 2 from eBay. Thought I'd try another approach to see if anyone has a 40 as I described in the title. Rust free is priority. The reason this is my secondary COA (course of action) is that I'd really like to do a custom paint job, so a pristine, restored 40 would be wasting a good/great paint job. So what ya got???
Looking to sell a 1974 FJ40, purchased from the original owner. Running and driving, but would need a little work to be a daily driver. Frame is very clean with a few spots of rust on the body. Asking $6500 obo. I tried to attach a lot of pictures but if there is something more specific you want just ask. Pictures in thread in signature. More can be supplied upon request. Which once was a running truck has become the unfortunate victim of a change in life circumstances, and it is time to part ways with the beloved 40. It started out with a simple timing cover leak and subsequent finding that the engine needed rebuilt, to quickly spiraling into removing a bunch of parts to be able to get the body aligned correctly and refurbish some parts. Since disassembly and lack of time and funds, it has sat relatively untouched since. I'm hoping this truck can find its way to a loving home, someone who will have the time that I wish I had. The good. Frame is solid. Drivetrain is solid. Aqualu alumitub 2, rhinolined interior and underbody. Good...
1969 fj40. $9,200.00. Modifications, vehicle with many parts. Vehicle has a 1975 running gear which has some modifications. All four leaf springs are Rancho leafs with less than 2000 miles on them. Front leaf’s are spun 180 degrees, and rear leaf mounts are moved back four inches, making a 102 inch wheel base. A 203 doubler from a Blazer was added to the H42/Transfer case line to make a 60 to 1 crawl ratio, added two shift sticks for a total of 4, one for the H42 Standard (1975) tranny, and one for the first low gear speed, and one for the second gear speed, and one for the front/rear/all four drive line selection. The H42 tail drive shaft was cut short, and a “spud gear” was manufactured and housed to adapt the H42 to the 203...
1972 FJ40 Texas
1972 FJ40 landcruiser with awesome patina. It runs and drives good with the occasional backfire. I put in a Trollhole carb. It has a set of 33x12.5 BFG tires on it. The body has minimal rust and some areas have been replaced with sheetmetal. Previous owner cut the harness so the lights don't work but the wiring is there to hook them back. Both front fenders were cut, cruisercorps has them for $230 each. Add a rattle can paint job and a day of electrical work would make this a nice DD. more pics can be seen here 1972P_40 - CruiserYard mud price - 5500
