1976 USA FJ40 - Ol' Blue
1976 FJ40 Located in Knoxville, TN Priced $27,900 When I sold this truck to a fellow mudder in 2015, we called her Ol’ Blue! She was an original paint FJ40 with some retro hand painted pin stripes. Spent most of her life in Colorado with a retired mechanic. She had some minor rust in the rear quarters and rear sill but it wasn’t too bad. I have photos before and after. Since then, her current owner has invested more than $15,000 to make her into what you see today. The rust was cut out and metal welded in. She received a new paint job, original color inside and out, new upholstery, headliner, Tuffy locking console, new tires, Weber carb and more. This FJ40 has her original drivetrain, suspension, 2F engine and 4-speed manual...
1979 fj purchase opinion
Hi, I'm looking to purchase this fj40 and wanted to get your opinion if I should pass on it or it's worth purchasing. Seller is asking for 11k and willing to deliver it. The fj runs and drives but has been on non op due to being a spare hunting vehicle. It looks to be repainted to beige from the original white color. I'm looking for an fj I can take out on the weekends and take the family camping with. So I need it to be safe and reliable. I'm located about 7 hours from the seller so I'm unable to see it in person. Thank you for all your help.
1963 FJ40 originally a soft top, located in Colorado $4500 OBO
It is titled as a 63 but the VIN indicates it was built in 62. 94360 on the odometer. The engine is in great shape, starts easily. Carb was rebuilt. The transmission is a 3 on a tree. Clutch is good. Clutch master cylinder has been replaced. The transfer case needs to be replaced, there is a hole in the bottom of the case. Brake master cylinder has been replaced, brakes work well. Replaced the lines with stainless. Seats are all there but need to be recovered. No holes in the floor pans. Only rust is on the surface. One dent on the left rear. Headlight switch burned out. I do have a replacement. Lights all worked before that. Prior owner put an aluminum top on it and homemade soft doors. The original soft top bows are attached...
No Longer Looking!! Proud new owner of a '78. Wanted ads do work. I was contacted by a mud member with a 78 that he was willing to sell (but it was not listed in the classifieds). I bought a 95 YJ Wrangler a few years ago, but I've regretted not getting an FJ40 instead. I'm ready to upgrade. I've been a little curious if Wanted ads actually work, but I guess I've got nothing to loose. My budget is $7,500 - $10,000 Ideally I would find one within a days drive of Little Rock, AR Obviously at that price range I'm okay with some rust, but I really don't want any rot unless it's a piece that I could replace easily (front fender, hood, etc)....I don't want to mess with welding.
1977 FJ40 value
I rescued this FJ recently. I felt it was my civic duty. It had been sitting in storage for 8 years just wasting away. I towed it back to the house to check the vitals. It was pretty dehydrated so I gave it a few days to rehydrate and low and behold it started back up. I expected to see oil and various fluids spew all over the garage floor but it idled comfortably and no leaks. These engines are amazing. I'm debating on whether to sell it to someone who will take it to the next level or put some money into a new paint job and minor body work. Most of the rust is surface except for the rear sill which will need to be replace. I know prices are going up and are over the place. I know this is not an exact science but what could...
1974 FJ40
Don't have time to do this project right, so she needs someone who does. I'm the 3rd owner. Majority of her life was a hunting/work truck in Idaho. Second owner bought and flipped her to me. I drove her daily in southern California for nearly a year, and then the head gasket went. This was my first project, and I'm admittedly out of my depth getting her to run properly again (runs rough and dies at idle). Truck is near complete, but needs some body work on the usual suspects of rust spots. Here's a good accounting of what she has going for her, and what she doesn't: The Good F Engine manufactured in '72 with 4 speed transmission Rear seats in great condition Tires have low miles Replaced hoses while replacing gasket Cap and rear gate...
This is NOT MY RIG. I can't believe I am going to pass on this one, as I have first dibs, but I just can't take on another project right now. It's in great shape as far as rust goes, missing axles however. Guy (name is Eric) has a loader, so all you need is a trailer. It's too nice to part out, but you could easily part it out and make some $$. This is too good to pass. He does have the engine, but it's not in it, and is exposed to the elements. Your welcome... Tell him Angelo sent you... :) 1974 fj40
