1978 in great shape including frame. Last ran this summer. He’s gonna charge up the battery and see if it’ll run for a potential buyer. Large property, plenty of room to test drive it.
He’s had it since 1990. He had the front seats reupholstered, he painted the truck the stock color. Frame appears to have an oil seal on it, not done by him. I didn’t ask for info where he bought it.

1972 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser for sale. Original 3.8 liter inline 6 cylinder, 3 speed F engine. Starts and runs well. Clean California title. 59,700 miles on odometer. All gauges work. Some minor oil leakage, but nothing out of the ordinary. New tires, new muffler, new shocks, new battery. Repainted freeborn red by the previous owner (not the best paint job, but gives it some character). Jump seats in the back. Tough decision to sell, but I only drive it once every couple of weeks as it is being garaged in Julian and I live in San Diego. Very minimal body rust. Only surface rust on undercarriage. This truck retains the original engine which has been rebuilt. The axles have been upgraded with arb air lockers front and rear as well as front and rear disc brakes. A Marlin Crawler Toybox with a 4.7:1 reduction has been added between the original 4 speed and the stock transfer case. It has a warn winch with synthetic line as well as two sets of dual beam warn driving lights. An upgraded alternator has been installed as well as a 2.5 gallon viair tank with a 100% duty cycle compressor. It has a bikini top as well as a full soft top. The soft doors are new and are two piece convertible doors.
It has a ruptured diaphragm in the brake booster but still runs and drives fine.

It is in good condition with some new parts. It is mostly complete. This is a fun, driver truck not a frame off restoration. It is a ‘75 so can be registered in California without the hassles of smog etc. yet it has the 2f and four speed transmission. It also has the newer style doors with flip handles etc. It has a soft top and bikini top and as mentioned hard front doors. I purchased it from the previous owner who drove it through high school. He graduated in 1994 and then parked it at his parent’s business warehouse, where he would drive it once in a while for errands etc. but only put about 500 miles on it in all those years. OEM engine replaced with GM V8 small block 327/350. Includes the GM power steering.
Original transmission, however the brand new CenterForce brand flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch disc all have less than 50 miles on them.

I have three in the garage and the Mrs. wants her winter time parking space back, so this one has been selected for a new home. It’s a beautiful 1972 Toyota FJ40 that has maintained almost all of its originality. The truck is powered by its original 1F straight six engine and 3 speed transmission. All of the lights, switches, gauges and controls work as designed. The speedometer works but the odometer quit counting miles about 230 miles ago. Actual mileage is roughly 82,100.
This ’40 runs like a Swiss watch on and off the road. It’s as smooth at 60 mph as it is at 20. It doesn’t rattle, shimmy or shake and is a true pleasure to drive. If the truck had another gear, 70mph would be a breeze but with the 3 speed, it will do it, but it...

Hello, long time member of T4R.org with an extraordinarily clean restored FJ-40 to sell to a good home.
An A/C and doors have been added since these pictures were taken, and I will add to this thread with more detail as I find time.
