Hi All,
So, I have read every post I could find regarding carbs, distributors, tuning, and electronic ignition conversions. I have decided I would like to put in a Pertronix Ignitor II, and matching coil, simply out of laziness. I'd rather drive it than futz with it.
My problem is that I'm unsure of what I have. I know for sure that it's got a build date of 05/77. I know that it has KPH as a second scale on the speedo. I know that it has VERY little plumbing, and no smog equipment. One vacuum line to the distributor, one to the PCV, one to the brake booster, and one to choke pull off(?).
The mechanicals look remarkably unmolested, and original, considering what a PO did to the body. There are no fittings with caps etc. The part# sticker on the carb aligns with a number in the Haynes manual for this year etc.
The big one is the dizzy. JTOutfitters has distributor cap pictures that are intended for you to match up your cap visually for ordering. Mine looks to be the pre '75 distributor cap. I'm wondering if I have a "U.S. '74 and earlier" , or Non - U.S. distributor. I understand they are the same thing. This would then make ordering the Pertronix unit a simple matter, I think.
It seems that the Canadian model really is different than the U.S. model, and more like a "Third World" unit. No smog equipment, no ignitor etc.
Any thought?
Thanks,
Guy
