Yup. Claiming this setup doesn't have Ackermann just because it moves the mounting points higher up in the Z axis is complete baloney

I'm thinking his comments are from a belief that "proper ackerman angle" can only be obtained with the TRE's in line with the pivot points but BEHIND the axle, I couldn't find any reference that BEHIND was the only way to be considered "proper" but I did find the note in the wiki which contradicts that...

He may have thought that with the TRE's ahead of the axle the tie rod length TRE to TRE was the same length as the pivot points from knuckle to knuckle, as the narrative to his point, but I'm just putting words in his mouth, and he can speak for himself if he figures that a good idea about now.

Geometry is geometry. Doesn’t matter whether it’s in front or behind the axle.

It would be interesting to see the above drawn in the correct proportions for an 80.
That sketch has too short a wheel base for the track width. It exaggerates the ackerman angle, and how much offset would be required on steering arms if located forward of the axle

Give me dimensions and Ill scratch something up, but I think its exaggerated because it would be harder to see in proper lengths and scales.

I haven’t used FROR knuckles but have used their keyed arms.

Pretty nice for sure and keyed is always best.

Cheers
You must have sent your knuckles in to FROR to be machined so they would accept the keyed steering arms???

Yup, 60-series.

I just got my knuckles in, has anybody used these with tundra or 5th gen 4runner brakes?. I’m curious how much better they’d be with a T100 master over stock

I think @jcardona1 has, maybe look in his epic build thread

With larger volume calipers you will need a larger diameter (volume) MC. Why the high steer for you personally. Have you experienced loads of bad events with the stock set up or are you just keeping up with the Jone’s ?

It’s got a lot of pros, largerish trunion bearing, arms that won’t wiggle loose (dumb guy proof), and it’ll give me room to land links. The way 4wheel underground sets of their 3 link is dumb unless you want a tall frame height.

And the t100 master should fix the larger mast issue…. I think. I’m in the early stages of research

Also. Hi Steve
