I got mine a few weeks back but only had enough courage to break the key out of the shell until last week! It bolted on really nicely.

Before I did this, I had a secondary key made (with remote) but it is a generic from Amazon. The remote works like the oem but uses a dif battery and isn’t exactly like the oem. My question is, has anyone broken this key? If so, does it bolt on to the Yotamd shell?

since I invested enough to have cut and programmed I would like to protect it with one of these shells.

I checked my amazon history and confirmed I bought that exact product. Worked like a charm and no issues in 3 days and probably 15 starts since I put t together. I had the “T” style key as well, which made the install a little easier.

Getting ready to purchase, but what style of blade is the lx470 combo key fob? Thanks can’t wait!

Marc,

It's ok if you don't know what style it is. My default is to ship a "universal" kit that's good for all styles.

The LX470 is typically I or T, but you won't know until you crack it open. If your key is still intact, just select "I dont know" when you add the YotaMD shell to your cart and it'll ship with all the parts needed!

Awesome, thanks Andy! Just realizing this thread is older than I thought, is there still special pricing happening?

Marc, No specials at this time unless you're looking at a bulk order. I haven't run any kind of sale on them since that initial release. I was considering a very small price drop at one point a few months back, but then postage went up nearly $1 and my titanium cutting services went up ~50%. I don't expect to be able to drop pricing for some time. If I increase my volume about 4x over, I could justify bringing some processes in-house and re-assess pricing. I'm going to launch on Amazon soon, but pricing will be even higher there because Amazon takes a ~10% commission/"Associate" fee.

Gotcha. Well thanks for making a badass product. I’m looking forward to it.

What an amazing design!
I have a 'T' - type Lexus blade - before I discovered this fabulous product I attempted to epoxy the blade back into the shell :doh: :bang:;
have cleaned the epoxy off the surface but the threaded hole is still somewhat plugged on the bottom and the screw only goes in a few threads: when I look at the different blade types, it appears perhaps the 'U' type possibly uses the small Ti piece to thread the screw into, just creating a 'sandwich' clamping the blade (is that correct assessment?);
I have cleared out the hole as much as dare with small drill (screw threads measured at 1.89 on my caliper, used 1.79 drill bit), but worried about clearing the thread if going any bigger - had hoped the screw would chase the rest out - but would this be a problem if drilled for clearance and essentially using the backing piece for the screw? Or am I understanding the 'U' type incorrectly?
I can persevere to work on clearing the thread (but no more drilling at this point!)
Sincerely
The Village Idiot

Village Idiot (lol),

Thanks!

The braces do NOT have any threading as I ship them. You'd need to tap them yourself if you go that route and it would likely need to be M3 or M4 as I design it as a clearance hole for M2 (so it's larger than the threads of M2). It's grade 5 titanium so tapping will be a little tough with anything but a fresh, sharp tap. You'd also need to drill out clearance for the larger screw on the plastic back and Ti brace.

That said, the U style key fits the worst out of the 3 styles. I wouldn't emulate it. Not having a threaded hole in the key really inhibits the kind of solid mounting you can get with the I and T styles. I would try to salvage that existing threaded hole if at all possible. You can buy a tap for M2x.4mm (I just ordered some and would sell one for $7.50 shipped) and properly clear out the key's threads.

Regards,

Andy

Thanks for super fast reply Andy
OK, appreciate the clarification - looks like I need an M2 Tap then - it's actually going in about 2-3 threads from either side, just getting stuck in the middle so still salvageable. I'm confident a tap would definitely clear it out. If I can't find one locally, perhaps I can get one from you along with my order (hopefully saves a few dollars on the shipping component getting together :D ).

This thing is dope. Thanks Andy!

finally ordered, thanks Andy.

Is that a desert tan under the green and black keys?

Yes, it's a desert tan/FDE/dark sand color. That's a one-off painted example so if you're interested send me a PM/email ( admin@yotamd.com ) and I can send you an invoice for purchase.

Just wanted to follow up on a little 2-3 week review of this product.

I didn't realize how much I needed this key until I had it. Every time I went to start the truck I was intentionally careful for fear of breaking my key. Even just out to dinner with the wife or something, it was just in the back of my mind what a nightmare it would be if the key broke. Now with the YotaMD key I just hop in and crank away no issues. The textured finish on the key isn't abrasive at all, but it gives you better traction with your fingers to turn the key. Reception has been exactly the same as my Amazon keys in terms of lock/unlock distance.

I get questions and compliments constantly from people at work when I leave my keys on the desk. Plus the orange finish makes it super easy to find when in a hurry. It is holding a little bit of dirt from my hands and such but cleans right off. I have only noticed it to be visibly dirty after I've been throwing my keys around wit dirty hands while working on the cruiser.

Overall 10/10 product. You'll almost forget you have one, and realize how your worn-out stock keys always put that thought in the back of your mind..."what if..."

Thanks Andy!

Any thoughts on branching out to the 200s, Tacoma’s, and 4Runners?

I finally made a real instagram account. I guess social media is like a big deal or something? If you've made a purchase and have Instagram, help me blow up the Toyota/Lexus scene with these!

AMAZON! https://amzn.to/2uL1M0w

For sale on Amazon now. You'll get a better deal through my site directly, but if anyone wants to review the product on Amazon I'd be grateful! I hope to get these "Fulfilled by Amazon" shortly where I ship wholesale quantities to Amazon and they take over the distribution.

@atnolan94 @D'Ecosse @wildtoy @Marc Henry Thanks! Spread the word on Amazon and Instagram!
