I went to a local hydraulic shop with the pump and the box and told them to make me a hose that will mate to both. He took his box of fittings and found the ones that work. I hope. I have yet to fire it up to see if there are leaks.

I'm thinking you might have been a bit happier with more belt wrap around that P.S. pump pulley, i.e. 180 degree wrap more ideal. Reason, when in off road terrain (primarily rocks) every time your tire comes up against a rock that wants to turn the tire, the pump comes under stalling pressure since you are holding the steering wheel straight ahead, so too little wrap on the pulley lets the belt slip/squeek- - -as in all day long!!!!!

Thanks Jim, this is not going to be a hardcore rock crawler but it will be in the rocks occasionally. I guess I'll look for a different solution if I encounter problems.

Mark - is that a Borgenson telescoping shaft? If so, which length did you use? I can't remember the length I used on the first one I did nearly 15 years ago now.

I know I owe this thread a bunch of part numbers and information but I just wanted to say that... I have functioning power steering!
I fired it up for the first time tonight... No leaks and I can turn lock to lock with the mud terrains on concrete with an open palm on the steering wheel!

Part numbers and info.

I ♥️MUD
Look at these threads in conjunction with my info below, I used these extensively for my build info:
My Saginaw Power Steering Swap - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/my-saginaw-power-steering-swap.273969/
Finally!!!! Saginaw PS pump conversion kit for FJ60s!!!!! - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/finally-saginaw-ps-pump-conversion-kit-for-fj60s.906031/

Steering column bearings
Cruiser Outfitters
Cruiser Outfitters - http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/powersteering.html
Mine were clearly worn out so I replaced them both. While this was all apart I used the opportunity to clean up and lube the turn signal/horn mechanisms.

Borgeson U Joints
My steering shaft had an old U joint welded on in place of the stock rag joint by the PO. I cut that off about 3” past the firewall and ground it down to “double D” shape for the new joint.

Steering shaft
No cutting required.

PS Pump
There are 2 mounting holes on the back of the pump, these need to be plugged to avoid leakage from the reservoir.
Pump “plug” bolts (3/8-16 or 10mm 1.5… ½” long) Mine too the 10mm bolts

Hoses
Mine are custom from a local hydraulics shop (see MUD thread below for an off-the-shelf option)

PS fluid filter
“Raybestos Powertrain Inline Magnetic Automatic Transmission / Power Steering Filter 3/8” from Amazon

PS fluid cooler
“Derale 13200 Power Steering Cooler Kit” on Amazon
A larger one might be better if you wheel hard on the rocks with big tires.

Saginaw Gear Box
I had this on the shelf, purchased years earlier - 3.5 turn lock to lock. (Not sure that I’ll like this, others recommend a “4 turn” box.)

Box Mount
I had one I bought years ago, it looks like this one:
Saginaw Steering Box Mount for 40 Series Land Cruiser - https://4x4labs.myshopify.com/products/4x4labs-saginaw-steering-box-mount-for-40-series

Frame repair/reinforcement
The PO had installed a manual Saginaw box and made a mess of the crossmember and frame horn in the process. I spent some time trying to reinforce it and clean it up before I started. Look to the thread below for the “proper” way to approach this part.

Jim C smog eliminator
TLC Performance (fj40jim@gmail.com Toyota Land Cruiser specialty parts - https://tlcperformance.com/ )
“Air Pump Idler pulley, 81-87 2F engine”

Stock (smog pump) bracket for mounting eliminator
I had one of these from when I removed a smog pump
2F Smog Pump Pivot Bracket (Used OEM) - https://classiccruisers.com/products/2f-smog-pump-bracket-used-oem

Stock Pump bracket
My 2F is from 1979 and is set-up for a stock bracket, earlier 2Fs will not have this option so you’ll need to get one of the available brackets for the top mount position such as Cruiser Outfitters Part# PS2FM
Cruiser Outfitters - http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/powersteering.html
…or change direction significantly and go with a mount that replaces the smog pump. Marks’ Offroad has a bracket specifically for that application. (Part 122-21A)
http://www.marksoffroad.net/1specials/1specials.html

Pump bracket adapter (for STOCK PS bracket)
Valley Hybrids (sales@valleyhybrids.com)
“Saginaw PS Pump Kit 8/80 and Up 2F **”
(Confirm exactly what you need when ordering, they sell the bracket for 2Fs without stock PS pump provisions also)

Steering rods/ends
Because the PO has installed a manual Saginaw box the pitman/drag link and ends were already in place. This includes a zero drop flat pitman with the matching drag link end. This worked fine when I was wheeling with the manual box so I’m leaving that all alone. I am spring-under with a 3” lift. All of this can be purchased at Cruiser Outfitters.
