After getting done with the military, my wife and I decided to go on a trip that forced the sale of my previous land cruiser. After 7 months, we stopped living on the road and made our way back from South America. Alaska has become our home while I am in flight school, and there is just something about these bad ass FJ60s that makes a man need one. Very soon after we stopped moving, I had to get my hands on one, and I did. She had been living in North Pole, Alaska for years, and somehow she managed to stay extremely clean. A true bad ass survivor. I took her by the hand, cleaned her up, and as of yesterday gave her a lift so she could have that sweet stand we love to stare at.

Looks fantastic!

Nice 60, amazing find that far north! How about some pics of your wheeling trip?
It truly was an amazing find. I did not really go very far on this trail. Just wanted to check out the suspension.( Not sure what you mean about wheeling trip... this trip or my trip for 7 months) Re torquing everything to make sure she good to go and I will take her much further next time .. I most definitely need a set of maxtrax or something to get me out if I am going to be going alone anywhere. Its a priority on the toget list for this environment

Curious to hear your thoughts about the KO2's in the snow.
I have always been a fan of the BFG all terrain. I always wanted to have an aggressive looking tire (MT) but could never justify driving down the road humming on mud terrains so it looked cool and I could do good on the mud what small percentage I am in it. Like many, I like to dream that I spend 80 percent of the time off road but the truth is that is more like 90 to 10... 90 being on the pavement, being that the car I play with is my DD. BFG did an awesome job with the all terrain K02 in my opinion. They have been performing awesome in the snow and because the k02 have sidewall tread, airing down and having extra traction is now a possibility unlike the original k0. There are probably better tires out there for the snow alone, or for the mud alone, or for the road alone, but being that the ko2 addressed the sidewall issue with the k0 I am stoked to have these on.

where in AK are you? I work in Ketchikan during the summer but it looks like your a fair bit north of that

She's super clean man! I have no idea how she stayed that clean after so long.

What are your plans?

Welcome back!

I am actually North of Anchorage, in Wasilla. It feels like I am back in GA(not the weather of course). Living out here feels very country. Nobody cares what you are wearing, people have their projects all over the yards, you can ride your 4 wheeler to the store, and you actually start running into the same faces. I am enjoying it very much for now as is something not many get to experience. There is a vast a amount of land to explore, and I am stoked to do so. Everything here is truly extreme. There are a lot of places to go on side by side, 4 wheelers, and very remote areas that you better have all the gear you need and a shotgun to shoot at bears just in case. There are not many "roads" to explore but I plan on finding paths from the air and marking them to go on the cruiser.

Thank you for your service... Awesome that you mashed SA for a spell. What suspension set up did you go with? Welcome back to 60 ownership.

I ended up picking up a used set of leaf springs from a guy here on the mud. Got them brought up by a guy making his way from California sense shipping for springs is ridiculous. right now I have my stock shock but I am currently looking for Old man emu to put on. Amazon has free shipping to Alaska which is awesome. When I went to order the rear shocks they only had one in stock so it looks like I am going to have to wait until mid Jan to get them all. If anybody reading can get old man emu shocks and ship to Alaska (for a good total price) that be awesome! I am not set on getting OME but matching the shocks to the springs would be best in my opinion. Right now I have heavy front and medium springs on the rear which works out perfect as I plan on getting and ARB bumper and winch

As far as my plans go.. oh man. I keep going back and forth about an engine swap. Would prefer a diesel as they get awesome MPG 4BT or 4BD1t or a 6BT but I want to stay away from 37s (maybe). I love the last rig I had but I do think 33-35 would be ideal. most def a 5 speed even if I don't do a swap ( wife loves how quiet this one is which is awesome keeping the wife happy). I am going to change all my tide rods, knuckle rebuild this summer, actively looking for an ARB bumper and winch and I am sure it is never going to stop.... it never does, we all know that

Great looking 60. Keep the forum posted on your progress

OME shocks, OME steering damper and tie rod kit on its way from cruiser outfitters:beer::steer:

Until I put an ARB up front and went with newer wheels, our rigs are identical. Kurt will fix you up good!
