I recently purchased Man-A-Fre's two-piece ceramic tuned headers for my 76 FJ40. They only offer a connecting y-pipe for 79-83 year models with catalytic converter.

I'm assuming I need to have an exhaust shop fabricate a y-pipe to connect my headers to my existing exhaust system. Does anyone have an approximate cost?

Thanks for your time.

I bought a y-pipe for my headers from MAF that did not have a catalectic converter. The muffler shop cut off the portion that they did not want and fabricated the rest of my exhaust system to route around my aux fuel tank and exit out the drivers’ rear side. This is on a '78 FJ40.

LOL, I paid $215 for my whole exhaust. Y pipe, 2.5" pipe and flowmaster installed.

I have the SOR 2-piece and $150 included everything back from that, including a knockoff "Turbo" Flowmaster and very nice hangers. So, we're in the same ballpark. The guy liked the FJ..............and the 12-pack;)

Do you guys see any fitment problems on these headers with a 71 F engine.I am going to finish polishing up the manifold from my 69 F eng. and use it with these headers also.I have a deal going for $120 for the headers new! But they are black and not the silver ones with the titanium finish?(still the same ones from Spector),But I wonder if the black looking paint is just going to bake off then rust? Still a good deal I think, cause my old headers from the 69 eng. are toast, cracks and really rusty.

Good thread, what do you guys think, should I pull the trigger on these headers?

Whoops, looks like you got your headers from Man-a-fre! I have an older Maf. catalog and did not see them in there.I can look online.I saw my old 6-into 1 headers in there.
