Hey guys I’m looking for a header for my cruiser. It’s a 69. The issue is with the stick manifold it is super rusty and the gasket blew out and I don’t think it’s going to go back together. I don’t want to spend a ton and can weld and custom fit it if need be. Does anyone have any options for me?

From the way your post is written, what I understand is you don't really want a header. The issue is the stock exhaust manifold won't seal properly, and you view changing to a header is your best option.

If my understanding is correct, I would highly encourage you to try a Remflex brand exhaust manifold gasket first. I checked and they do make one for the Toyota L-6 engines. The Remflex gaskets are more expensive than typical Fel Pro, etc gaskets, but the difference is they work.

I say this from personal experience with Remflex. I won't buy anything else.

Your right definitely could’ve been written better but let me show you what’s going on

I’m worried about this not going back together

My cast iron exhaust manifold cracked in half after about a year of me owning it. I was given a used header. I planned it on a big piece of glass with sandpaper. I made longer "studs" and custom brass stepped washer to account for the 1/4" difference in thickness between the intake and header. I used 2 Man-a-fre header gaskets put on wet and torque them in pattern by 1/3. After I fired it up and got the system hot, I retorqued them at 100%. Afew runs later I did it again. I used stainless nuts and high heat antiseize compound. After a few years I made my own fluid heat riser. This set up has never leaked. It has been on 2 different engine and at least 3 times total, yes I even reused the gaskets. Its all still there and has been since about 1984 or so.
I cut a V notch in the air cleaner bracket to allow better fit for socket/extension to torque that nut.

I’m just going to start asking you when I have questions 😂
