Just want to say hi! This is my first post and my first Land Cruiser so I am excited. My plan is to turn it into an overland vehicle. I have been hooked since I helped a friend in Germany prepare an 80 for a trip to Namibia last year.

I picked up a 97 80 series this summer with a blown head gasket with 200k on the clock. The truck is super clean except for the front seats, zero rust.

I am a student so I don't have a lot of time but, this Christmas break I have been hard at it. Just ordered a ton of parts from cdan, who was a great help and gave me a smoking deal.

Since I never heard the engine run I decided to pull the whole thing and inspect/rebuild. Here is where I am sitting as of right now:

Should have taken the crank bolt of while it was still in the engine bay...live and learn.

No, I think the biggest I will go will be 35 and as low a lift as possible. I hope for this to remain a expedition type rig. I have the 4runner to beat on and cut up so I still get my fix.
