Ok. So the other thing I did today on Ol' Rusty while waiting for a new throttle position sensor to show up (I'm beginning to suspect my old one is faulty/sticking even though it bench tested fine) was go through the truck front to back checking all the wiring connections and any grounds I hadn't already cleaned up. Cleaned all the connectors with De-Oxit (had to bust out the picks, sand paper and mini file for a few of them). Also added some extra more local ground leads because redundancy is good. Didn't think to grab any pictures until I was at the back of the truck though.

One of the spades on this relay busted off while trying to clean it. Already had the soldering kit out so I decided to try and solder it back in place. Mostly just to see if I could, I'm going to get a replacement for the relay, but at least I know I could if I'm in a pinch in the future.

Also opted to do something about this panel while I had it off. The masonite board is cracked and warped from age and the fact there's a big ass hole in the quarter panel. A little farmer's friend and some staples and it now holds solidly to the body and doesn't leave a big opening that funnels dust into the cab via the aforementioned rust hole. If I wind up keeping this truck I'll probably replace all these trim panels in the rear with ABS.

Tossed some plastic push pins in the hood liner since somehow I never noticed it was missing most of them and barely being held up.

So I pulled the throttle body again (hey a gasket stayed intact for a change, hooray) to replace the throttle position sensor.

Got the new TPS on and adjusted/positioned it with the multimeter. Put a little grease on the gasket since I didn't when I first made it and put it on, then slapped the throttle body home. Also removed the hose connecting the intake to the idle air control valve and popped some vacuum caps on, since I already have the wiring for the valve unhooked (something is wrong with it or the circuit because it keeps increasing the idle speed up to 1500rpm) and I wanted to eliminate that valve vibrating open and bleeding air by as a possibility.

I also changed the plugs, since the ones in it that I previously pulled were showing their age and they weren't the right heat range (only one off, but still).

No photos of the new ones, but just picture 6 shiny new NGK BPR5ESY V-Power plugs meticulously gapped to 0.31

Well the time has finally come. The day of the Lemons Rally draws near, and ready or not we're Detroit bound. It's a 1000miles just to get there, which is more than double the miles I've driven this truck so far. Fingers crossed.

Yeah the stock seats are atrocious. So yourself a favor and grab a big memory foam cushion

Well despite the low likelihood, in my esteem, this POS made it to the rally, through the rally, and all the way back home. God I hate it, and now since it's proven itself I'm going to have to put some more work and effort into it per the DeepBarney Beater-car Bylaws.

It's racked up over 3400 fairly unkind miles since we left. Part of me wants to watch it burn, but we had a deal and now I must fix some s***. The chandelier stays though.

“Unfuckulate” is one of the best uses of the English language ever.

Thanks
