@NLXTACY Quick question - when I lived in socal I never needed to drain the compressor tank in my garage. Since moving to florida with the higher humidity I find I need to drain the tank after every use and brown water that comes out is a lot. Will the tank / system stand up to the Florida humidity or will it be rusting from the inside out and need replacing frequently?

The coelescing filter remedies a lot of that. The tank itself should hold up just fine. As part of my design I've added a 3/8" piece of Delrin on one side to give the tank a 2deg tilt towards the drain. The drain itself is not the standard pull type. It's actually a side pull drain commonly found on semi trucks that uses a stainless cable tethered to the frame. That way you just reach up and pull the cable to drain instead of crawling under the truck and pulling down to release.

I'm finally at the "pull the trigger" point on this. Here is everything that is going to come in THIS kit which is the:

• Rear Tank Mounting Kit- this kit will include everything you need to mount the 2.5 gallon tank at the rear under the truck. Once installed all you will need is to connect the hose that goes to the Quick Connect fitting and the air compressor output.

I will be making the bracket available separate because I have made some adjustments and added mounting holes for the ARB twin compressor AND a 1.0 gallon tank on the side OR nearly any of the VIAIR compressors.

Side note: I am now a reseller of VIAIR products. It was just easier to become a reseller than to just funnel sales elsewhere and force everyone to get the pieces on your own. Instead, its all going to be available through Wits' End.

I will put up links as soon as I have the tested prototype back from powder coating so that I can do some product photos and possibly a video or two.

Just looking at the VIAIR, I will now await your thoughts on what you like best and order from you along with the rest of the kit. I see that VIAIR has there own OBA so I'm curious as to your thoughts on that as well.

Many ways to skin this cat. The tank I have spec'd is the 2.5g 200psi unit. If going with mounting an electric air compressor on the bracket instead then there is a spot for the 1.0g tank. The VIAIR heavy duty and super duty use the 200psi tank but everything else is standard run of the mill fittings. They include a compressor (which is a big plus) but I have the bracket and I take the guess work out of it. Going the complete VIAIR route is totally fine but IMHO some of their stuff is just way to cheapy for me to not only use for myself but to even use for any of my Wits' End products. I like their tanks and their compressors, pretty much it. I have nearly every piece of fittings/components they make and I'm just not a fan of the quality. Even during my conversation with VIAIR, my rep said their business is the compressors and everything else is just stuff they put together to make it a kit.

That being said, they are hundreds of installations out there with their gear using their fittings and are fine. But that's not me and that's not my products.
 
When all is said and done it will be Wits' End products with whatever VIAIR compressor you tell me I need.

Well don't go with my word just yet. I need to do a lot more research with their product offerings to understand it all and to tune out the stuff that isn't applicable to our world.

For your application, are you looking to mount the VIAIR compressor using my new bracket? Or is it for the 2.5g tank or trying to do both? There is a way to do both but I am waiting to get the 400C I ordered to arrive so that I can test fit everything to verify it does what I want.
 
I'll work on the timeline. As for the components price I'm not trying to get rich of anything I'm making. I do get a discount by purchasing in bulk and I've already worked out those arrangements so there is some money I can make right there. As far as how I price things I'd like to think I'm competitive, the Scepter Water cans should show that and the OEM parts I carry I make literally pennies, PENNIES! But I started carrying that stuff because it helps folks out to be able save on shipping with other stuff and to KNOW what they are getting is correct because I'm so focused on the Land Cruiser and especially the 80 Series ;)

How is this on timing, only because you have an actual deadline I will arrange for you to have either my prototype or a prototype and if need be I'll swap it out for the production version assuming there is some change to it.
I think I finally have my pulley problem solved so I'm about ready for the next stage. Where we at with the tank & manifold?

Don't mean to pressure you, just ready to roll!
 
Joey, I was hoping you would be able to fit the compressor and tank on the same bracket. Did I assume that setup in a wrong way?
Or is the bracket and tank setup based on the York compressor still?

The bracket was initially designed to hold an air tank. Because of the size it's difficult to find an easy way to mount it.

Since that initial design I have modified it so that if you only want to mount an electric compressor (ARB, VIAIR, etc.) you could. I have since altered it again so that you can now potentially mount both a compressor and tank but there are limitations that I can work out once my prototype is made and my VIAIR order arrives which should be tomorrow.

Yes, the way I envisioned this setup was with the compressor and tank all in the same place (or really close by, not having the compressor inside the engine bay for example) and with only one air outlet, but a rather long air hose to reach all 4 tires.

Remember the "no holes" policy? Yeah! That's why. :)

Well yeah this "could" get you 95% of the way there. Let's see what the weekend brings. Metal shop is trying to get me a prototype tomorrow and my other stuff gets delivered tomorrow. I'll experiment and take plenty of pics.
