Ok, I give up. 17 months after giving Joey $6k I still have no turbo and no update of when I will see one. Absolute BS. Joey, if you read this send me my refund! (You don't return phone calls emails or snail mail). Mud appears to be the only place you respond to people

no offense but I placed my order in August or September of 2019 and I know others have waited longer....so well past 17 months.

did you even read the details online before ordering? Or this and/or the development thread? Certainly you educated yourself before spending $6K. Supply chains for everything is a joke. I ordered some MTB hubs a year ago from Chris King. Still waiting. And those don’t have nearly the amount of parts and pieces to source/machine. Some things you just have to wait for.

The amount of moving parts required to fall into place to put something like this together is astronomical for a small shop and that’s without the supply chain issues we’re currently facing. I can’t think of one place where Joey hasn’t regularly posted warnings about lengthy wait-times for this kit - there is even a giant warning in red text on the purchase page itself.

I’m sure someone else will be happy to take your spot.

Yes, I read the details back in August of 2020, and yes when I first talked to Joey he told me he expected about a 6 month lead time. After that, nothing. No updates, no ETA, nothing. He has absolutely ghosted me. Now, I just want my money back. For those of you waiting in line behind me, great, you get to move up one spot. You can hang on as long as you like. I'm done. I just want my cash back to spend on my Cruiser.

With all due respect, this is the Turbo Owners thread. Please don't muddy it up and make if harder to find info and help with the system in here. There are other threads to voice your opinions or attempt resolutions regarding your transaction, this isn't it.

I get it’s a lot of cash and a long wait, but if you’ve waited that long I would just tough it out. I just finished my install after ordering 5/19 and it was so worth the patience, best money I’ve spent on any cruiser outside of buying the actual trucks 🍻

FINALLY, your userid is appropriate 😂

I'm at 20 months wait for mine, and I can't say I haven't thought about canceling a few times to help pay for life (son got diabetes and insulin is crazy expensive, work changes with a move involved, and a home purchase with renovations) but I also understand the current supply chain issues and all that Joey has been dealing with. I decided if I ever canceled my order I would instead find someone to take my place instead and let them not have the wait time and Joey not deal with the fallout. I definitely understand the frustration with that amount of money and waiting a long time. Communication issues can be frustrating too, but understanding Joey runs the shop and tackling so many other projects to provide for his employees and family is also important to keep in mind.

That said I am one stubborn bastard and I've waited this long, I can wait another 20 months if I have to. I just wanna go fast!

That one time when you out climbed the 18wheeler on a 6% grade at 6,000' elevation post turbo will make you forget about any lengthy wait times. Trust me on that.

I took my wife up to Yosemite Valley in the Turbo 80 for a day trip yesterday. Once again, it really makes all the difference at elevation.

Also, I have stock gears on 35’s so I’d be getting passed by 18 wheelers without the turbo 😭

I have ~1000 miles on the dual oil catch can setup so I will post some measurements/pics of the volume and nastiness prevented from going thru turbo.

You do any engine work before the turbo/catch cans? Valve seals ect...?

I did not, which is why the oil catch cans were important for me. Others that rebuilt engines prior to installing turbo should see significantly less blowby gases by volume.

Engine has 184K miles and burns a little oil so it could use a top-end rebuild. I just wanted to make sure the turbo didn’t get junked up while I’m delaying the top-end work.

I’m actually kind of happy for the wait time, as I’m being presented with the cost and reality of having to do my head gasket AGAIN, less than 25k miles after a thorough top end rebuild…

Well I went out to my car today and found oil spots on the ground in new places near the rear bellhousing seal, so I may be spending money for top-end and new bellhousing seal sooner rather than later 😣

Any views on root cause?

Just a WAG here but a good chance there might be porosity tracks on the block's surface that a new HG wasn't able to seal up :bang:

Quoting myself here, but leak from bellhousing area (either RMS or Rear Arch) is a few drops in 24 hrs of not driving compared to it previously being “seep but no drops”.

I’ll try some AT-205 Reseal and see if that slows the leak back to “seep but no drops”

Other new leak is from transfer case but that isn’t such a PITA to fix. I’ll try AT-205 first and see if that works.
