With the shortage of fusible links...

I upgraded the cable from my alternator to the battery.
I haven't changed cable from alternator to engine bay fuse box. I don't see the loads here as having changed as any accessories are drawing load from the battery through fused circuits.

If the 100amp fusible link rating is upgraded, is there any need to increase cable size to the engine bay fuse box?
Not in my opinion, I did not see the need as like you additional loads over stock are cabled and fused direct from the battery.

Regards

Dave

Just arrived. More coming tomorrow.

This is how the 'toilet paper' fiasco occurred.. Now that there is a 'known' shortage, everyone will be trolling every parts vendor to snap them up by the shopping trolley load :slap:

cheers,
george.
Absolutely, I have spare but after seeing this thread I was thinking I need to get a few more.🤣

I honestly never assumed that posting about someone's kit to replace the fusible link and saying that it "maybe an NLA item" would be such an issue. Maybe I should have said future NLA item.

Honestly I was just asking for everyone's opinion on it, and got it from the first few people that posted and their issues with the fuses that were/are overrated amperage wise for our particular vehicles.

Thank you for your responses and love the technical knowledge passed on from this forum/group.

The peanut gallery is ever present. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

@OGBeno - have a 24v hJ60. Need fusible links. Do you know if they are available?

Packages of them arriving daily 👍

They’re not NLA, just a bit slow coming in. As someone said, Japan wiring, etc. is/was affected a bunch by that virus.

I’m just here for the gang bang.

The fusible link IS NOT NLA.

Stop making s*** up.

I have 2 new OEM freshies if anyone’s looking for one and wants to touch me.

I was merely calling you out for talking out of your ass about part numbers. That’s all.

I just hate ****ing misinformation about Toyota part numbers which is what you engaged in mainly because you are ignorant, knowingly or not.

But everyone is a parts expert it seems because the internet says you are.

90982-08264 is nowhere close to being NLA.

And mike drop…🎤

Fusible links suck. Midi fuses are a far superior solution, and I'll probably be switching on my rig when I overhaul the winch wiring. I used midi fuses when I did the dual battery setup. The fusible links are archaic, and there's no way Toyota engineers would use them today if the 80 was a new vehicle. They've switched to midi fuses on their newer 70 series line-up, and I have no hesitation following suit.

Cool idea for a FL alternative.
I have a newer (3-4 year) old FL on my rig currently with the old one as a spare. I did just order a new FL on eBay for $20 just in case.

Never did I say I was a parts expert and never will be.

I did correct my original post hopefully to appease you. There was no intention on passing of misinformation, the idea behind the post was to merely get people's opinion on the idea of that replacement for the fusible link. If you or anyone else took it as there was a chance the FL would or is NLA sorry.
