I'm having trouble getting a decent set of wipers for my hundy. The last set was ok but clunked loudly when they would switch from moving upward to downward. Got really tired of it and replaced them with Michelin wipers from Costco. Had high hopes for these as they've been good on other vehicles but driving over 40 mph causes them to allow water underneath the driver's side. I'm wondering if the solid piece across is catching too much air and the spring isn't strong enough to compensate at higher speeds. The springs seem plenty strong but do they wear out? Should I try some OEM blades? Where's the best place to get them?

May be wiper arms are weak?
I went a round with several types of blades. Costco Michelins failed on mine too. Ended up with silicone blades from advanced auto parts (I had store credit on there, otherwise no preference). They are holding two summers and on third now in Houston heat with parked on driveway.

In my experience Bosch Icons are excellent. I put them on all my cars because of how well they contour to the glass and are streak/squeak free

I have historically used the cheapest blades I could find on my vehicles. This required an annual or bi-annual replacement. A a few years ago I tried something different on the 100; PIAA Silicon wiper blades. 3 years later these things still wipe clean and smooth.

Thanks guys. I did a quick search but came up with nothing. That kinda surprised me. Must have used the wrong or too many words.

PIAA is the way to go. Silicone blade. If those don’t work springs in your wiper arms are dead, buy new arms from dealer 5 minute swap and they will look much nicer if they are rusted out.

I’d agree that the best choice is replacing the OE inserts.

If you don’t have the OE bits, the “cheap” non-Icon Bosch seem to work as well as anything else that I’ve tried.

A dealer told me refillable wipers not available for 04LC. I'm using those for a Camry over 12 years. I know those do last quite a few years

Welp, that dealer, much like a lot of dealers it seems, LIED to you. If you ever want to get 100-series specific wipers and refillable blades, below are the part numbers for 03-07 model years:

85212-60171 Front Wiper Blade, Right

85222-60211 Front Wiper Blade Left

85214-48010 Wiper Rubber, Left

85214-50100 Wiper Rubber, Right

Thanks, will keep that saved.

It uses the same wipers as the 200 series. Same size on both sides, ask for the aero blades for an 09’. It’s an investment up front but after trying high trico, high end Bosch I realized the oem weighs twice as much and that helps prevent the bouncing, and now, every 12 months I just replace the inserts.

Reviving an old thread...

Could this be my issue?

I am sick of trying wipers. Both sides jump/skip when i turn them on. I have a set of cheap rainx wipers on now and they jump/skip also. I tried expensive wiper and same issue. Do i need new wiper arms? Is there a part number i can use to buy them online? Is there a guied to removing the wiper arms?

Thanks!

My '89 FJ62 wipers did not work well and I bought new 4Runner arms from the dealer (a common FJ60/2 mod) and that fixed it. The springs were much stronger. So, weak wiper springs causing chatter are definitely a possibility.

Pleasantly surprised with the PIAA's.... on year two and work very very well.

I had what I thought were OEM wipers, and replaced the OEM blades every year, worked great. Then last spring I brought the LX into the Toyota dealer for some work and an inspection; they replaced the wipers and now they judder, smear, and clunk across the windshield. Been trying to find the "aero-looking" OEM Lexus wipers ever since; think I'll go with the OEM LX570 aero wipers as recommended above. 👍
