Locking key strips aren't used on later model FJ40s. The weatherstrip is "one piece".

Got it and thanks. My experience is based on 75-78 and didn't understand.

Well, I got the windsheild out and have to patch a couple paint spots on the windsheild frame so the new weatherstripping has to wait a couple days. I put the new gasket up to the windsheild and it seemed a little big. This was the case last time that I did this and I had to cut it to fit and it got all messed up(and leaked) and that is why I am replacing it again. I specifically called a dealership that had a 65 parts book to get the right part number this time. Does toyota sell just a universal gasket and you are supposed to cut to fit? This doesnt seem right to me and I dont want to mess it up again and have to do this again later down the road. Thanks.

Called Dan today and apparently the realy gasket part# for my 65 FJ40 is 56121-60010 not 60011. But unfortunatly that gasket has been discontinued and I am going to have to cut the gasket I have.

what year is the gasket you have now for.

I think its for 69-74ish FJ40s.

I called every window glass company in the area, most of them were in the $195 range for a custom cut glass using my existing britle gasket......

Finally found a shop that is willing to do it for $95.00 ...if I bring the new gasket.

They reccomended using a tinted glass, they had quite a selection of colors...
has anyone installed a colored windshield.

Most glass is tinted - non-tinted glass is more expensive. I had mine done with green tint- you don't notice the tint - mine was around $170ish.

Anyone know a part number for the gasket on a 61? Frame has vents.

John

Well, the gasket I orderd from CDan was too big and in the end caused too many problems(cut too much out of it). So I called up SOR and ordered a gasket they said would fit the windsheilds with the vent at the bottom. Had it installed today for $20, it fit perfect. The part number for the weatherstripping was 120-03A-A. It says it may require trimming but mine didnt.

I went through this a couple years ago with my 64. The gasket I ordered from SOR (I don't know which ppart # it was) did need to be cut, but since I had a local glass guy do the install, he cut it, matched it up, and bonded the ends so it's nearly impossible to tell where the cut was.

The only compaint I had was that since the gasket was a continuous extrusion, there were no molded corners. Where the gasket bends around the corners, it buckled a little bit, but my glass guy filled the voids with sealant. It's hardly noticeable, but still...

Glass is one of the few things I'll pay someone else to do. $75 for new glass, installed with a leak-free granrantee.
