Can anyone confirm with me what year(s) did Toyota start including threaded holes (US spec) on the top of the windshield frame?

Crappy picture below for reference from my 1981 rig, but can’t tell with the top in place. I may need to remove it, but I was hoping for a quick answer from someone who knows This answer off the top of their head.

If you talking about the holes for the soft top channel across the top of the frame. Idk when the threaded holes stopped. My 75's are threaded, along with an earlier frame with wipers on top of the frame. I have 2 later frames that just have 7 holes, no threads. I know 1 frame is from a 77 and not sure about the other. I'd guess it's a 76.

Yep that’s what I was wondering. Thanks!

The 77 frame has the squirter above the w/s similar to the 1 in your pic. The 76 and 75 frames do not have one. FYI

No threaded holes in my 5/76. Just a bunch of sheet metal screw holes the fool of a previous owner put in for an ancient bikini top. 😵‍💫

2/78 frame afaik and no holes - just the two big holes for holding the cap in place. I like a bikini top but I just haven't been willing to drill the frame. Some shops separate the windshield halves when doing restorations. Gesik's is one (Toyota Land Cruiser Restoration at Restored FJ40 - https://www.restoredfj40.com/). You could have captured nuts added but I doubt it's cheap.

I have 3/79 with empty holes. I also have I believe is a 10/81+ (has two wires for the room light, both positive and ground) that has empty holes. Sadly those two and a 71 windshield all have holes from sheet metal screws used with the generic two piece channel used for bikini tops. Never figure why not just make a pattern of windshield and drill the channels. I know I have at least three sets of the channels. None were drilled to match the windshield holes.
