I am getting ready to put a TG 5'' front kit on my truck. I have some 52" S-10 springs, spring mounts and rear creeper joints w/ 5.5" shackles. will this settup work in the rear or am I better off finding some 63" 1500 springs. Mahalo!

Do you know how much extra lift I am going to need with the chevy springs and the 5.5" shackle. Do the 63" ride super stiff ?Thanks for the help

Thanks for the advice! will 2500 springs work also, just take a couple packs out?
How long are stock rear shackles? Truck has crappy 2.5" tough country lift on it.

I do not think that they would. Im assuming they are a different A. Length or B. ahh... for lack of better terms hardness. (lol)

I say 'hardness' because our 2500 uses a pack smaller than the 1500s until the overloads BUT you can squat a 1500 with half the stuff you can put in the 2500 and it not be on the helper springs.
Make sense?

Going to use your advice this weekend, thanks again, u boys rock!! any advice on 4.70 transfer case rebuilt? Marlin, TG or NWOR?

That's easy. Go with Marlin, Marlin or Marlin. I would stay away from the other two.

yep. they wont work.

only use springs off a 2wd 1500 and take the over loads out if you want

I would NOT take the overloads out. If the springs go to negative arch, they will bend, and snap.

I ran 3 leaf springs on my '85 4runner, and they were much too soft. with a 5.5" shackle, they gave about 2" of lift. Almost all of it was from dropped hangers. I've found the 3 leaf pack works the best on light pickup trucks. Even ones with heavier flatbeds are too much weight for the 1500 chevy springs. Remember, compression shackles place a larger force on the spring than tension shackles, thus making them go flat easier when put on our Toyotas.

My current setup consists of a '90 1500 pack which has been modified to: #1 '90 main leaf, #2 Pro Comp 1.5" Add a leaf, #3 is the #2 leaf from the '90 pack, #4 is the #3 from the '90 pack, #5 is a rancho add a leaf, #6 is an old man emu overload from a 79-88 rear 2" lift pack.

It rides great, is not too stiff, flexes perfect for a trail rig, and the factory toyota-style overload will have the rear spring clamp bolt hit the main leaf, eliminating much of the axle wrap. It sits 5" over stock hight for an '85.
