Wont fit need to make a custom mount of some kind
I am in the process of figuring this out myself

I'm pretty sure 4" will not fit, 4" is too big unless you modify the area.

But last time I checked, I just did a quick comparison and a 4" would not fit the stock screw locations.

Dropping the head liner is not a problem as the whole bottom half is already pulled out for the Dynamat install and custom mounting and fabbing I can do...I'm tempted to take a look and see whats involved to make them work....thanks

I love Polk's...I had them in a Honda S2000 ..your trucks going to rock
Everyhing is subject to change and of course...funds ...I'll also have 8 plus a sub....just not Polks

I'd like to see them installed when your done, I might have to drop down to the same 3.5 just to make the install easier

I have The small polks as well that I want to put back there
Keep us posted if come up with a good mount design
It is a tough area to mount a speaker

I just order two pairs of these from Amazon for the same price that Crutchfield wants for one pair.
Higher quality then the 4" Pioneers and should be a little easier to install in the dash and the rear roof and will give me a chance to compare the sound of the two.

Kappas always get the thumbs up in my opinion but I really look for anything pre Harman Kardon ownership when it comes to Infinity but that is not always possible.

There is a factory mount that should be easily modified to get the 3.5" speakers to fit without issue.

Not new in the box, thats for sure....these got great reviews for thier size and i couldn't pass up the price

I have looked at the existing mount closely
I did modify one of them and got the speaker to fit inside the mount
The poblem is the depth
The speaker magnet hits the roof line and you cant install it
It needs to be spaced out some how.
But my 94 roof liner and such is the soft fabric kind and it sucks to work around

ok sooo this is probably a lil behind but does someone wanna explain to me how to pull the top back covers off? id rather not break the plastic and im just tryin to figure out if they pop off or what...

The covers are held on with these metal clips that attach to the plastic covers in such a way that to remove them by prying them off will almost definitely snap off the 4 little legs that attach them to the roof liner. to access them the proper way you'll need to pull down the headliner in that area.. that being said it is a real pain in the butt to remove the headliner.

Correct for only '95-'97 vehicles. The '94 and priors use a suspended headliner and the covers pull off. You do not want to remove the suspended headliners, they are not easy to install.

The 3.5" speakers should fit, but you may not be able to use the existing mounting holes, if the speaker tabs do not align. I will be doing this too, with 3.5" Polk Audio speakers.

Another note on this subject: I would recommend using capacitors in series with the positive wire to block out the low end if you are leaving the original wiring in place. The rear left and right speakers are wired in parallel (door and rear) and if you are trying to get decent mid range from the door speakers, you will want to inhibit the lower freqs from the 3.5s. The Polk Audio speakers came with 200 microfarad caps and we soldered them into the circuit. It made a HUGE difference, allowing me to open up the lower freqs to my larger speakers.

You will want to look at your specific speakers response capability and limit the lower frequencies so that you do not have rumble when cranking up the volume.

I found this site very helpful when selecting capacitors for the passive high pass filter:

Or, if you don't care about the music experience of those in the back seat you could cut holes in those speaker cover screens and mount some lights.
