The market is crazy now, in June 2020 I traded in my 2019 Tundra TRD Pro (16k miles) for what I paid, my wife's 2018 4R limited for a 7k loss (26k miles), form what I bought them for. Both were traded to buy a 2017 200 for $57k which I though was average priced at the time. I work from home now and have 2 other trucks (both old land rovers so on a good day its 1.25 trucks, lol).

Now, I'm looking for another 200 for me, and its 100-120k miles for $45k on a 2013-4.
so I'm going to wait.. and probably buy my wife something else to drive and I'll take the 200.

Everything but land rovers and Volvos are crazy priced right now. (there is a reason for that, I know, but lets ignore that shall we...)

Do I think a 2021 Heritage will hold its value, yes.
Do I think it will appreciate like my 1995 Defender 90 NAS that I bought 16 years ago, No, well... not for a long time anyway.
Modern cars at best hold value for the first few years then start the curve down (or if you buy a Land Rover, they fall off the cliff as soon as your drive home).
I think the 200 is going to be a bit of step child, its not classic enough, its just a really good truck. So will have a following, but probably not a cult..

IMHO...

Great timing for this post. Thanks. Anyway, I take delivery of a '21 next week. I've wanted one for sixteen years, wanted a 100 for ten years before that. I was going to give my 4Runner a few more years but when I heard time was running out, I got the FOMO. Depreciation doesn't matter to me. This is our families forever truck. I hope my kids can drive it when they each turn sixteen.

Does anybody want to buy a 2014 4Runner Trail with 57K miles? (EDIT: Trade in and tax credit came to $20K)

I’ll buy the 4runner if clean carfax. Pm me

Are those the prices you are seeing now? Wow, guess I lucked out, bought my '13 LX (all options except radar cruise) in 2019 with 63K miles for 40K

Your Tundra doesn't surprise me. I am in Colorado, land of insane Toyota prices. You can basically drive a 4Runner for 2 years for free because the resale is so nuts here. Good luck on your 200 search.

Pretty much - today's haul of ads ... 2014 86k miles, $46k... 2014 94k miles, $44k.... 2015 96K miles, $39k (not bad) but north of me, which I am trying to avoid.Pretty much it for 300 miles radius.
In general they are cheaper north of NC, but you have more rust issues to deal with.
I'm in no hurry though, so I can wait for the right one.

rlynch - don't discount northern vehicles. You need to check them out, you may be surprised.

My 2015 is rust free. I bought it used 2 years ago - local car but the prior owner must really washed it regularly, or maybe avoided winter driving. Even the infamous KDSS valve bolts were clean and opened effortlessly. The only tiny specks of rusts where under the rear bumper cover near tow hitch on welds (I removed the cover to inspect). Most would ignore them, but these were easy to take care of with rust converter. I then spray everything in Corrosion Free rustproofing (highly refined mineral oil - like Fluid Film but not stinky) and the truck should remain rust free basically forever. Requires touch up in exposed areas every 12-18 months.

My 2012 Tacoma treated this way is rust free. Of course that takes diligent application into all cavities in the body and frame,

Went with the 2021, picked it up today. Kinda busy, gonna be flying the next four days, maybe bring the owner's manual with me.

Congrats! Post some pictures..

Not the most attractive truck to me, but that is a plus these days. Taller tires and a bull bar will help. I decided against the Heritage Edition to keep it as boring-looking as possible.

I bought the same truck in January of this year a month before Covid 19 was kicking in , Dealers in the northeast at the time could not sell the Heritages , they were taking 10k off the sticker .
High priced SUV with out a 3rd row was not a big seller . I wanted the Base model why pay more for a set of BBS wheels and roof rack .
I wanted the body side moldings , running boards , cooler , rear seats and still paid 78k for my left over 2019 which Jan/ Feb is the best time to buy most people are recovering from the holidays , I allways got my best deal end of Jan into Feb , last day of the month of coarse .
From what I am told dealers PA/NJ are holding for MSRP +
Just started to gather parts for mine .

Maybe the instruction manual would be more appropriate for the honeymoon 😂

So you are going to read the owners manual on your honeymoon ? 🙄
Lol. I sleep in Tulsa tonight, San Fran tomorrow night, San Antonio Friday night, home to my bride Saturday night. Leave Monday for Vegas. Right now I'm packing quickly for my trip this am.

Interesting comments regarding the new ones holding their "potential" value. I am currently working on a new one as there are no used ones even close to me and even so the 2018-2019's are still going for quite a bit with 15k or less on them. I will tell you the current negotiated price is right at 79k for a new base model with a few extras included, about 9k off window. I do agree that it all depends on your personal financial situation. I have bought several new cars in the past especially for my wife that keeps them for about 8 years and normally less than 30k on the odometer when she finally decides she wants something else. We bought 3 years ago now a '18 GLC AMG that has 8k on it and talk about a depreciation hit! Wow, she's going to hold that for sometime. As for the LC, I do believe they will hold their value especially if discontinued here in the states. There will be someone that wants the type of vehicle....hopefully!

At about 6 years old, your at about 50% residual. Give or take for mileage. From Ferrari to Ford.
