Why do you love your 60?

You guys are making me reconsider my latest move. I just bought an supercharged 80 with the intention of selling the 60, I thought being able to climb mountains without 10-15 cars lined up behind me was actually important. Now I just feel like I've made a big mistake and I'm about to make it worse by selling the only vehicle that I have ever felt emotionally attached to.:crybaby:

Because it's got nice/unique lines

Because it growls (especially with 13BT and no muffler)

Because its almost 20 years old and still kicking. Although the motor is relatively new, the truck has well over 260k on it and looks great.

Because it's fun to drive and I get more feedback from the road

Because it doesn't have a $6000 paint job and isn't covered in plastic

because when i pull up to the camp site, suddenly my rig is cooler than all the other grocery getters:)

82 fj60

I love it because it is an awsome truck. In the Desert, Mountains, Beach, Snow, Rocks it is #1. And the chicks dig it!

Because if I didn't love it there's no way I could justify the amount of time and money I spend on it?

I don't right now since my head on my turck is cracked. However since I just got the new head tonight things are looking up.

Hopefully have it in by next week, after it comes back from my buddies machine shop w/ all new valves.

because it goes everywhere.
the whine of the t/c and the roar of the fan when i let off the gas.
ive never felt this way about an auto

because i think its beautiful

I love my bj-60 for its simplicity.

Only grip if it ever comes is the cost of the parts but so far its been good. It has 379 km from the original PO and its been a good truck or is that tank?

Trying biodiesel for the first time which initially, was why I wanted to buy a diesel truck 5 yeas ago :) Eventually I may keep it or upgrade to the new looking fj-61.

BTW, need a garage or shop to start doing some body repairs to mine. only fenderl wells need some work. Any clubs I can join in Surrey or other cities in lower mainland bc?

Because when the parking lot is full, I can drive on top of a huge snow bank and have a nice space! And the 60 looks great up there!

Long Story Short

A friend from work saw my 60 and said:
"I wish my wife would let me get something like that"
Of course my wife gets to drive the fj80 now
(I love having 2 cruisers just need a few more to round out the collection)

I love my '60 because it costs so little to maintain. [so tough] There's only three in town. We see each other and the thumbs go up ! Like others, i didn;t plan to love it. It gave me pride i couldn't have gotten anywhere else. people don't know what it is right off the bat! My boat and four-wheeler look great being towed by it. I put a fairly massive stereo in it, and the acoustics are superb! I've never had a 4x4 quite like it. I've owned many 4x4's and this one is the best!!!!!!!!!

Let me count the ways...

I love my '60 because it's unstoppable...
because it growls when I step on the gas...
because it hauls all of my family and stuff on a trip...
because it tows my '40 when it craps out...
because it's wicked cool in a way new cars can't touch...
because it makes the morons in huge, jacked up chevys feel totally inadequate...
chevy owner -> :frown:
because chicks (including mine) dig it...

I love my cruiser because no one else understands why i love it.

got to go wash the cruiser!!

When I first saw a 60 back in the early 80's, I thought it was the coolest looking rig ever- and I still feel that way. My 62 is the ideal mix of comfort, reliability and toughness. The other 4x4's I've owned don't even come close in registering a similar aura of indestructability (not counting other cruisers) Like a fine wine they tend to become better over age, rather than fall apart due to lack of attention.
