Why do you love your 60?

I love it because my neighbors hate it. They hate my 60 and my 40. They especially hate my friends that show up to work on stuff. They love the street being taken up by a Unimog, a shortened duece and a half, and if Steve comes over, a Ferret.

If I didnt have the Cruisers, the buddys wouldnt come over, thus no pissing off the world.

I love the solid feeling it has when I climb into it after travelling for a week.
Turn the key and it rumbles to life.
The reliability of it is unparalleled. Seriously.

When the weather turns bad, I don't care at all.

When everyone else has a car payment, I don't and I still get to point B from A in style, comfort and in a vehicle that very few have.
It is not some cookie cutter SUV.
My kids love it!
My neighbors are terrified of it!
It goes EVERYWHERE without a gripe.

I want to drive it forever, really......

Exiled- great post! :bounce: Your rig is awesome and the stories it has been a part of are even better. I'm still getting my stories started....

I love mine because even when it was stock it could wheel great. And now that I've begun restoring it and will be doing a heart transplant (LS1) it will be an even better rig. I can hold on to this for a long time in the future and it will still be at the top of the food chain. Plus it has tons of space, gets thumbs up all the time, and just has character.

LandCruisers will rule the world :flipoff2:

Something about the way Exiled internets that is like a magnet, everyone just loves it... I noticed more than anyone else the photos in the photos of 60s thread are his, not suprizingly :flipoff2:

I love the way people stare when they pass me.

I love the way the Cub Scout troop would rather go wheeling in my 60 than roast marshmallows.

I love that my sons would rather ride in the 60 than mom’s new Tahoe.

I love how some of my snooty neighbors glare at it (their just jealous).

I love how it’s just bouncy enough to make the hula wiggler dance all the time.

I love the way it looks with a 10’4” longboard on the roof.

I love the fact I have no desire to replace it with anything! I’ll keep it forever.

I could go out and pay cash for an H3 or a Rubicon, but how stupid would that be…I’ll just drive my FJ60.

I hate mine because it doesn't look like Exiled's...

otherwise I love it!!!

So many reasons, but the top ones are-stopping to let my hunting partners climb in because their Dodge & Ford diesels can't make it to camp when the snow gets too deep.

When I'm coming down the mountain during late archery elk hunt in Dec. & pull over for the snow cats ,they ALWAYS stop, stare in disbelief & start the questions! It's even better when we have an elk stuffed in the back :grinpimp:

i love my 60 because even though i've already had it for a year and use it every day, i still get excited about driving it. And i love watching my wife drive it too!

- plus, it's getting pretty hard to find a truck that's built like this anymore. I stopped by a toyota dealer the other day to look at tacomas and tundras, really nice trucks but i can say honestly that i prefer my truck - i can get a tundra when i'm old.....no offense to tundra drivers:D

I love my 60 because this is my second 60 and i regreted selling my first 60 when i was out of work and cash strapped , i love my second 60 because it has 430,000 kms on it and still ( almost) runs like a top . i love my second 60 because it's my wife and my first choice for a vehicle to hop into to get groceries even though she drives a 626 with power every thing and leather seats . most of all i love my 60 because i have a 3b and i can go 600 plus kms on a tank of diesel !

Also just got back from the car wash and many of the "illegal" workers fell in love with my 60. I kept hearing things like "I drove one of these in my country" or "dis truck is beeeteful" So I was happy!

it doesn't break. when everyone else I know gets stuck, they call me first (ok, I don't *love* that part, but it is fun).

It's comfortable enough.

Plenty of room inside for hauling stuff (just moved a refrigerator yesterday).

And it just doesn't break. which is really nice in this area of car-eating roads

Yup, we bought a side by side refrigerator at one of those liquidation sales. Pulled up to the loading dock, slid that bad boy in and closed the tailgate. Got a few thumbs up driving away.

Saved the $75 delivery fee too:grinpimp:

All these statements about 60s are about to make me teary eyed :)

...I love my 60 cause eveyone underestimates it, then i go further than they do (mainly Jeeps)

love, love, love my wagons!!

Because they are getting so cheap you can buy an extra one or two to save money on parts! (if you can hide them from the wife).

Because I was hit in the driver side fender by a car doing 45mph and I was not hurt!
The girls car was messed up, my front 6" of frame bent slightly and because of that and body damage to the the rear driver side door and fender it was a total loss. :crybaby:
BUT I BOUGHT IT BACK FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR $500 AND DROVE IT FOR A YEAR DENTED AND BENTED!!!!!! :flipoff2:
I still have it for a project, but the old-lady don't like that.
:hillbilly

Because they are simple and I can work on and fix them.

Because My dad rolled his 1992 FJ80 on the Dalton HWY towing a camper, nether one of us had seat belts on at the time and no one was hurt. We had a wrecker flip it over and drove it to Fairbanks with construction plastic on the windshield. In Fairbanks we put Plexey-glass on the windshield and drove it to Anchorage!! (about 800 miles after roll over)!! Ran great except for body damage.:whoops:

Because it has a frog gear for jumping rivers, and a squirrel gear for climbing trees.:D

Because I can take some camping and fishing gear in it and and still have enough room to sleep in it.

Because until last summer it was still affordable to drive every day.

Because I have owned 1 ford, then 3 Jf60's and 3 FJ80's. (FJ60's & 62's are best)

Because I have never paid more than $3600 for an FJ60.

Because I bought a FJ60 for $500, and my last FJ60 for $1000 (I put another $1000 in to it over the next 6 months to pass smog and keeping it running however), but no problems since.

Because I just bought a 1992 FJ80 complete parts truck for $700!

BECAUSE IT IS NOT A JEEP!!!!!!!:censor:

A few more reasoons

Because my 2 1984 FJ60's have 156,000 miles / 160,000 miles and still run great!

Because no one else at home can or wants to drive my manual 4-speed FJ60's!

I love my 60 because

Its a Landcruiser and a 60 what more do you need to say!!!!!!

love fj60's

I love my FJ60's because:

It is the last real world no frills truck made!

No electric gizmo's here. before the term SUV (AKA grocery / luxo wagons). I do not think you can even buy a truck with crank up windows any more. In a few more years you won't even be able to buy them with out TV's and GPS. (no wonder you can't buy a new truck for under $20K.

When I get steel at the steel yard the guys look at me goofy because I don't have a way to huge pickup. I just put the steel on the roof rack or in the back and drive off.

How many other auto manufacturers have 20+ year old trucks still driving around. (I see less and less 80's trucks on the road these days).

It works so well I have never had to modify it more than putting a hitch and better bumpers on it!

The front axle is a full floater!

The axles ring and pinion are bigger than a Ford 9", and Dana 44.

These trucks are still used all over the world today.

Man, what a great thread! I love my LC because it seems that most LC owners feel the same way I do about their rigs. I've owned a lot of different makes of vehicles and joined related clubs and none seem to have the passion of the LC owner! I just wish I lived where there was a stronger LC group (even one other person would be nice). As far as the vehicle it self...durability and rugged style! 4 leaf springs and 2 solid axles, I love that truck feel!!!!

I love my 60 because i grew up in the back of one, travelling this huge country i had to get one for myself. I love pulling onto the beach for a week away, throwing on jimmy Buffet and letting the world fall away. I love it because no matter where i wanna go, I know i'll get there, maybe not quickly, but I'll be there.

Over here in Australia, they aren't as rare as in the USA, but a good 60 still turns heads over here, more so then the soft looking 80's and horrid looking 100.

I love it because I didn't plan to love it, it just grew. I originally needed a big vehicle to transport junk and would have been happy with a minivan. When I bought a this 14 year old vehicle I found ,thru the years, that it was one of the most reliable vehicles I have ever own. Most of the things I've done to it was preventative or upgrade work. Of course, I still have some fears of some things breaking down because it is old and rusty (brake lines, hoses, etc.....).
