Clean and getting them dirty.

Wow, those are some seriously detailed vehicles. Good to see they are still being put to use and in their comfort zone............

Who makes these, how much lift, and where can i get some?

"Mohave" prototype leaf springs being tested on the trail. We can say 12+ inches travel with driveline mods. About 10 with the stock slip yokes and pinion angles. They ride soft enough you may give up your 80

We have one more prototype set to go through. The initial set gave about 5 1/2" lift . We will bring the
final production down to about 4~ 4 1/2" . The final front spring rate will be lowered about 10%.
These springs are longer than any on the market so will require longer shackles. Contact Al at man-a-fre and he can let you know when he expects the next prototype set. Probably 3 weeks

i assume these will be available through man-e-fre in that case...ill have to keep an eye out. I was gonna get their 2.5" lift, but if these are fairly imminent (figure by july or so) then i know what im gettin.

I say leaf springs can flex....

They'll go the other direction too! :D

These will be in 4 1/2" range. The springs have more potential than any I've had built. With a double cardon rear shaft and about a six degree shim you will get about 14" of linear travel. 12" without driveshaft and caster mods
The front of a 40 requires more work. Twelve inches or more of linear travel requires a double cardon drivehaft , cut and turn at the knuckles, taller shock towers and a longer slip yoke. If you just use taller towers and a longer slip you will see an honest 10" of travel.
The truck in the test has a stock driveshaft and 3" over shackles in the rear and
extended towers, a long travel slipyoke and 2" over shackle with a shackle reversal in the front.
Keep in mind, a stock 80 has about 8" travel, OME lift pushes it close to 10".
The ride and flex compares to a springover without the work or wrap issues

Stock springs do just fine. I'd get probably 2 more inches in the front if I had longer shocks. Ans a whole lot more in the rear if I had some wheel spacers. The tire starts hitting the inner body.

Howdy! Suppose there's no chance of making them for an FJ 55. Not enough of them left on the trail for a good market. This one is stuffed pretty good for an SOA. No wheel rub, and the DS rear is off the ground a bit. Maybe I should disconnect the rear sway bar? John

I thought I'd make my first post on this site as a contribution to this thread. I'd say leaf springs can flex... :D
