Yep... Who... and why is the one they offer the best??

and yes I know I misspelled "Rebuild".. but I can't figure out how to edit the title. haha.

If you are referring to all the seals, bearings, races etc, then I just did the home job with the Marlin Crawler kit. I picked this kit for their special "Eco" inner axle seal that seems much more robust than the factory seal. The job was messy and time consuming and you'll want some specific tools. There are several videos for guidance though!

Good luck!

I wouldn't buy a kit from anyone other than cruiser outfitters @cruiseroutfit . Everyone I've dealt with there has always been polite, never rushed me on the phone, had my stuff to me in 3 days tops. They have an excellent, well thought out kit, and the price is perfect.

Disclaimer: I received discounted / free products for this unbiased review. Just kidding, this isn't amazon. But I have installed several of there kits and they always had the right stuff. You won't be disappointed if you go with them.

Cruiser Outfitters

Don't forget the Valvoline Pallidium (about 5 tubes) and Wheel Bearing Grease (I used Timkin Red)
and 54mm socket, 5 cans of brake cleaner and lots of gloves.

If your going to switch Birfs (which you should) get 2 circlips from CO or your dealer.

I've used cruiser outfitters kit. no complaints.

I just ordered trail gear's kit from Summit for $69. I also ordered the trail gear spindle nut "upgrades." Low range off road has them on sale this month for $30 shipped. You can get summit to probably beat it by $1. Trail gear also has a "HD" seal which i believe @jcardona1 just installed. I plan to source timken bearings from rockauto. I'll be at $155 for wipers, seals and bearings all around. $171 if you want to upgrade to he "HD" seals. $125 if you don't upgrade the spindle nuts.

I am rebuilding the front bearings and order the Nitro kit from East Coast Gear Supply. Kit comes with koyo bearings and races. This is my first FJ-80 and my knowledge is very limited about the quality of the kit.

I bought the Timkins on Ebay cheaper.
You can buy a seal/bearing kit for one but bought bearing and race separate for other.
Never heard of a set of properly installed Timkens Failing.

Also plan to replace the Trunnion bearings, they take a beating and wear out faster than the wheel bearings (which can last 300,000+ miles IME).

Your Star Washer Failed?

Or the Nut was mangled from screwdriver hammer treatment?

$43 is a lot of Cash for a Nut.

The star washer method was a bonehead move by Toyota. Lots of trucks use this spindle lock nut concept. Chromoly is surely overkill for a spindle nut, but what I really like is that it truly is 'set it and forget it'. You set the preload, lock the spindle nut using the outer ring and you will never have to worry about your wheel bearings coming loose. Ask the guys that have had wheel bearing failure at high speed. $43 would barely cover the pants you just ruined when your wheel came off on the freeway

Toyota OEM....simple answer.....

Also, the expensive answer. Especially for a case where the mud mantra is aftermarket.

Is there a specific reason to use Timkin Red on the bearings instead of just using the Valvoline Palladium?
