2. Wire up 24v-->12V reducer
3. Install Yaesu 2M
4. Pack
5. Install OEM Auxiliary lights with 24v bulbs
6. Install fuse box.

Hey Dan, if you really want to isolate vibrations, the grommets don't do that much as it'll still pass through the bolt from body to mount. Check out your oem radiator, air filter and wiper motor mounts for how to do it. You'll need some 2-piece rubber bushes. I couldn't get any where I am so I had a rubber manufacturer make me up a lot of 100 for all my non-oem mounts. When I get home can post pictures if you like (there's one buried in my build thread somewhere near the intercooler install).

After a marathon day of sanding with Mom--the entire body (well, exterior at least) is in primer!

It's just the first coat of epoxy primer. Tomorrow I will give it a second coat, and then I *should* be able to spray the 6L4 in the afternoon!!

This is nothing! In October she was helping me with forestry stuff (Dad was too). We moved a LOT of wood.

While the primer is drying tonight, I'm doing some thinking.... Anyone know of an external puck GPS antenna that works with a Yaesu FTM-400DR? It has a jack for one (looks like a 3 wire mini RCA to me)--and if I could mount the head unit away from the windshield it would make the install *much* cleaner for me.

I also put the first coat of eastwood's thermal and acoustic barrier on the roof. Not sure my stutz gun is working right, but....

Running to get stuff at the hardware store right now while I let the paint cure.

Nice work Dan! I know the bodywork/ painting is no laughing matter, in the middle of all of that with my dad at the moment with his cruiser. Lots of tedious work, but worth it in the end

So did you skip the primer completely? We did epoxy primer- primer- paint- clear. Were you able to smooth out the epoxy coat?

2--I don't want it too perfect. I intend to drive the crap out of this truck
3--the epoxy primer will grip the body, and the paint. My goal is for good paint adhesion above a perfect finish. Got to fight that stupid mag chloride.

Right on, I'm a novice painter and didn't know whether or not you could take the primer out of the equation.

That is my dilemma with my personal 60 at the moment. I don't know if it's worth all the effort to fix the dents and re-spray, or just wait until I am a little older and wiser to where I don't pick up new dents every time I hit the trail. I do not like the exposed metal that I have though. Decisions, decisions...

Looking foreword to hearing that 1hz rumble under the hood!

Looks great! makes me itch to get back to work on my 60. The 40 is undergoing some updates as well as repairs.

The rear doors, hood, fenders, inner fenders, hinges and a bunch of bolts are now painted, and the clear is drying as I type this!

Unfortunately I have to head back to work tomorrow. Pretty long stretch, but then I've got wheeling plans after that--so it won't be until mid December until I can get back to it.

Hopefully the weather cooperates so I can paint the remaining pieces next time: lift gate, tail gate, front doors, front core support, and front valance.

So here's some better pics...

The painted stuff. (either I've gotten better at painting, or I got better at taking pics of the pieces)

And just for fun I pulled the masking off of the body. The Medium Quartz (IIRC) Monstaliner looks awesome with the 6L4! Which is good, because the lower trim line will be "painted" in the same Monstaliner, and I think the colors look great together.

While I waited for the paint to cure, I bent up some of the new fuel lines. These are 10mm lines--to match the 1HZ's inlet hose size.

The 1HZ has a fuel inlet on the left side of the engine, so this routing should move the fuel lines to the left side, and keep they away from hot exhaust. I went with aluminum lines, but they will be well secured so I won't worry about work hardening much at all. Yes, that is two fuel lines coming from approximately the same spot. One line comes from the stock fuel tank, and the other comes from the aux fuel tank. The selector value will be mounted to the framerail right where they terminate in this pic, and a single line will continue to the engine itself.

I need to order some matching 6mm lines to fabricate the same routing for the fuel return lines too, but I will get to that when I get to work on the truck next. You can see the nice beaded ends on the fuel lines? Oh baby that kind of detail makes me happy. I also have matching Viton fuel lines to connect all of the metal lines together. (Viton, BTW, is pricey stuff, but someday I might be running pure bio, or WVO or something, so now is the time to replace the sofa lines with Viton)

where do you get your viton from and is it reinforced? I've bought from two online stores and it wasn't reinforced, to supple for my liking on a 4x4, so still searching.
