^^^This. My 91 has 278K miles on her and I just did a 300 mile trip and got almost 14 mpg on the highway. She's not quiet, but she's still strong. Sounds like a typewriter. Love the old girl.

BullElk shut this thread down with his amazing number!

I am resurrecting it. Debating whether to take my 233k miles '96 on a 700 miles trip with wife and three kids under 10 years old. Don't want to get stranded. But it's a beach trip and an 80 looks good driving down a beach.

I feel low mileage compared to some, but maintenance makes all the difference.

Way to persevere Snake eater! Good for you.

My '96 has 418K now. My son drives it now a whole lot less than I would but my current DD is my '97 LX with 264K miles.

No pictures or it didn't hap....oh wait! I know there are others with more miles but thought I would post anyway.....hopefully non obnoxiously.

have you done all the maintenance? do all the maintenance and then drive it! My truck has over 200k and I feel very confident in it's reliability, mostly because I have gone through almost everything already and maintained it.

Yes, I do try to keep up with maintenance except I haven't changed tranny fluid in over 300K miles because it is always up to level, clean and smells good. And don't plan to unless something changes. I go around 7-10K on oil changes depending on the color using 20w50 oil. I have not replaced the oil pump gasket or the crankcase seal (although they do seep a bit) but I have replaced the valve cover gasket. Since then I haven't had to add any oil at all. It is always up to the level. These vehicles are just amazing. Before giving to my son I used it in my land and timber management business. Rolling a bunch of miles in the woods every day and, seriously, daily prayers that my truck would last...and it has.

I've had the truck for a year, done my maintenance but wasn't sure about the previous 231k miles under prior owners.

I took the family down to padre island national seashore, close to 700 miles for the entire trip including quite a bit of beach creeping. Cold a/c and coolant temps 188-193 the whole trip in 90+ degree daytime temps, pushing the 315's with original gears. Purred right along and wasn't a bad road trip vehicle for the 5 of us. Hard to believe it is 19 years old and mostly stock.

Oh, and 13.5 mpg running 75-80 mph for about 3/5 of the tank
. Maybe my best tank ever since it was also first all highway tank

426,000 mi, daily driver.
Wont be gaining many miles this summer, I got a job as a wildland fire fighter in NV. I made it a month between fill ups. Normally its a tank or two a week with last job. If I get a job in AK this winter that will put a few more miles on it.

I'm sneaking up on Landtoy.

I've got.225k right now and have made two round trips from San Diego to Washington with out a hiccup. The PO did the head gasket at 180k and said he could still hone marks!
