I am at 426,644mi BullElk, you better start pumping gas into yours and catch up. I have about a month left of fire season and then I can get to putting more miles on the 80.

Gabriel 71, if its your O2 sensor, I have not noticed much difference between running with new, dead (still plugged in) and unplugged O2's. Although if you cant start your motor sometime you may have to unplug the O2's to get it started.

Landtoy, I think i can, I think I can, I think I can.....

The only reason mine doesn't have 450k+ miles right now is because my son drives it now and much less than i do. Lord willing, that silver beast will get 500k miles someday.

Look out Landtoy, I'm catching up !

If your getting skeered....get a dog :)

BullElk, you better start pumping that cheap gas as I am at 434,175.
I have been driving 500 to 815 miles a week lately. If I get the summer job in Alaska, that should put a few more miles on the odometer.

Dagnabit...I just knew you were gonna post some retard mileage and blow me out of the water.

Like I said before with $1.70 gas......I think I can, I think I can

BTW, if we look at combined mileage .....I'm over 1.25 Million...with an M :)

FJ80_Interior2.jpg

Bought this in 2009 from 2nd owner for $2750 with like 380k. So I'm putting 10k per year on it. There's 100 things wrong with it, but none of them change that it just does everything right except go uphill fast. I'm fighting a bit of rust, but we keep fighting.
Lost my speedo for a couple of thousand miles in South Dakota and the 33's register about 6% low, so actual mileage is higher, but the ticker's pushing 448 on never swapped or overhauled powertrain.

The question shouldn't be what miles is on your rig but rather why does the speedo go up to 130mph. I can only imagine that is for when you slip over the side of a crevice and reach terminal velocity....

Because it's a Lexus?

95 FZJ with 260K (240K are my miles as I bought it in 97 and have been wheeling it for 19 years)
Head Gasket Replacement at 220K
Rebuilt front and rear axles at 210K and added ARB air lockers front and back and replaced the gears with Nitro 4.88s as I run 35's
Replaced wiring harness at 210K
Rebuilt rear nose of transfer case at 230K due to noise
Replaced both drive shafts (front shaft is a Slee shaft) at 230K
Run high milage Mobile 1
Frequently change the coolant, motor oil & power steering, differential, transfer case and transmission fluids
Keep it clean, polish out the brush marks once a year
Make continuing improvements to keep it interesting -see signature block for some
Use the truck for hunting and wheeling and occasional trips to Home Depot, etc. - not a daily driver anymore
Take good care of an 80, avoid tearing it up foolishly and it will last longer than you will

Plan to keep it until I am too old to hunt and wheel anymore as there isn't a better platform for this combined usage

Here is the odometer in April 2013

Txjack, I remember when mine looks sooooo nice.
Now its got cancer (rust), skin is wrinkly and falling off (clear coat) and OME springs are starting to sag. And the horn doesn't work all the time.

FJduo- I should catch you by end of summer...

A couple of times a year I detail it completely to keep it in good shape. I just did it over the last couple of days and it looks just like the picture above. I was looking pretty sad before hand. I hunt in the Texas hill country and it is all limestone there. It was a really muddy fall down here and the limestone made my paintjob look 30 years old. Luckily McGuires and a good buffer takes care of that. No salt on the roads is one of the benefits of living in Texas! No mountains is the downside!

430001! Thats getting too close to my mileage. Time to quit my job (sitting home too much) and get a job where I work 6 days a week again so I can rack up some more miles.

Look out cap'n here I'm a comin. It's actually my son but whatever.
