Who has early front doors on a 76 and up FJ40?

What about door stop interchange? I have early doors and an early tub with a '75+ cowl/A pillar section, so the hinge side door jamb is cut for the later style door stop (not the early style curved bar with a rubber bumper). It seems like the 'clevis' connector on the early doors (two ears with holes for a pin to connect to the stop) doesn't allow the later style door stop to align properly. On the later doors, is the clevis piece welded further inboard on the thicker door? That would mean the clevis is further away from the hinge pins centerlines, so this won't work since the older style doors are so much thinner.

If so, I thinking it's better to change the door jamb opening to match the older style door stop.

Any experiences or suggestions?

So im ordering new door seals etc. CCOT lists 64-80, 80-84. I read to order the 80-84 because it seals tighter to the window. Should i get this or the 64-80 for my 77 fj45?

I picked up the original thread from the FAQ section, attempting to follow the process of updates to the FAQ's as opposed to even more new threads to clog up the forum.
Sorry if that offended C. Greek.

My question refers to the door stops, sometimes called door limiters, on the hinge-side door jamb. Nothing to do with the door regulator side.

Also, 'door stop' nomenclature was taken from the SOR website. Just to be clear, my doors are early (1973) and have a clevis welded to the door designed for the 'early model' door stop. So, is the late model door stop a direct fit for the early model doors? If not, the two solutions could be to convert my A pillar to the early style, or convert my early doors to the late model door stop. Any recommendations?

The front door stop (early model) looks like this:

and the front door stop (Late model) looks like this:

No offense taken. :) yes the newer style will work with old doors. I did it myself on my 74 tub with 78 doors. Just drill two holes for the mounting bolts. Pretty easy mod. A bit of clearance grinding as well.

Old FAQ thread revival to add a photo showing the ambulance door striker modified to allow an older door on a newer tub (74 doors, 76 tub in my case). I had to grind off the tab at the back and elongate the mounting holes. Think it’s part number 69451-90302, but not positive. I ordered the CCOT knockoff to be sure since those were cheaper. This method has me on the edge of the opposite limit than before (striker just pulls the door tight enough). Seems good with new seals. I’ll switch to OEM (or a better idea if someone has it) if I don’t like the wear or the seals settle too much.

And closed with the new Quick Hinges and seal from Racer. Not totally done on driver’s door as I need a seal there. The door is slightly sucked in from the B pillar.
