I'm looking for a backup camera. I want to be able to use it on the 80, as well and my clamshell snowmobile trailer while towing.
Is there one camera I can detach and then attach to the trailer?
Any help is much appreciated.

I've never owned one, but I have looked into them and do eventually plan on getting one for my 80... All I've seen are hardwired into the vehicle. I think part of the limitation is the viewing screen which is usually integrated into the head unit or rear view mirrors. You may be able to wire up a plug that you can use to switch between the car and the trailer camera though...

Backup camera reviews are tough to come by. Think your right, I might need 2 cameras and hard wire them when needed. Next, which ones to buy?

They are available, I know people shipping horses use them to keep an eye on the nags in the trailer, they even have them for parents to keep an eye on their kids. At the moment I have a friend looking up options to have an in dash screen that can accept feed from 4 different cameras, I think this will be too expensive for me at the moment but curious about it

My mom got one like this for x-mas a couple years ago, very simple to install.

The wireless camera just uses the reverse light wire and a ground. So when you put the vehicle in reverse the screen turns on after a moment. Should be a ble to splice a wire off of the reverse lights to a quick connect crimp on wire connector, and then another on the trailers back-up lights, the only other thing you need is a ground at each point.

The screen inside was powered from the lighter plug in. The only difficult thing I can see would be quick connect mounts to move from the vehicle to the trailer.

But that's just the details I guess..

The new Tacoma's have a factory backup camera with a screen that pops up in the rearview mirror. When the vehicle is out of reverse the mirror looks like any other mirror! It's pretty cool!

Who's going to do this Mod & do a write up?

I want to be able to see behind the 80 when not towing, but I want to be able to see behind what I'm towing too. I was thinking I would get a wireless and could use a magnet to move the camera from truck to trailer.
What I've read about wireless systems, you get interference so the picture isn't 100% viewable all the time. And ofcourse money is also a factor.
Also, was informed the camera needs to flip the video horizontally. Cheap ones don't.
Still looking at monitors.

I was looking into this too, as I wanted to add it to the 80 and 100. At our local Toyota dealer, they had a wired unit that was nice where it replaced the rear view mirror for the monitor, but it was $1000 installed. WAY out of my league. I will just make the kids get out and direct traffic at those prices. The above wireless looks cool, but where would you mount the monitor?

I like how the newer cars have the screen in the middle of the dash.

check out the 80 looks like an oreo thread..he did alot with cameras...u could prolly hard wire one in the trailer with a disonnect with the trailer pig tail
