Must be some innate misogynistic assumptions within me or something, but reading your threads and replies, I had you pegged for a 50 something male who eats Fruity Pebbles with Miller Genuine Draft instead of milk ;) A female who rolls an 80 and studies gene mutations is pretty friggin impressive I must admit!

whoah whoah whoah. She still eats fruity pebbles with MGD instead of milk. She got into gene mutations to try and figure out her husband :flipoff2:

That's some funny s*** right there...I don't care who you are!

 and I haven't the faintest idea what fruity pebbles are - MGD brings the barf (as a genuine German, I DO know beer )

@ewillis: how could you mistake Claudia for a male ? - and, don't forget, I have wheeled a 40 for the past 10 years, manual steering no less :flipoff2:

Everything thinks Claudia is the name of your truck :flipoff:

none of our trucks/vehicles have names :p

I'm 49 years old, will be 50 in late August
Live in North Carolina, but grew up in Southern California (have grown to love the Southeast)
Married with a daughter in college and a son who will be a senior in HS
I am a geologist --fun job
Bought a `93 last week that has quite a few issues.--because I enjoy repairing things. The previous owner or previous previous owner liked to secure things with wood screws (almost everything).
I am looking for a long term build for fun and traveling.
Spend hours reading this forum with the wealth of knowledge

48 (for another few weeks)
I'm a software developer and brewer although not in the ratio I'd prefer. Currently living in Phoenix but I've lived in (not just travelled to) about 20 other states.
After nearly a decade of being confined to tarmac I was craving dirt. I'd been in a number of Jeeps in the past but this time I wanted to be comfortable while I was trundling through the southwestern wilderness. Started paying attention to LCs for sale and when one came up for a very good price that wasn't beat to crap I jumped on it. The M Coupe goes up in the classifieds this weekend!

This is a pretty cool thread, hell we all "talk" enough in chat, whoops I mean 80's tech, good to get some background on people. lol.

36 this year, effing crazy, I remember when my parents were mid 30's and they were old....

I have been in the military or working for the government in one aspect or another since 1998. I have not been a big Land Cruiser collector, I have only had 2. A 1971 FJ55 and my 1996 LX450. But I have the mod bug and can't leave anything stock. I was just going to buy this old beater 1971 FJ55 to take me and the wife and dog to the mountains....... But before it could be a good old camping truck it needs a tune up. 3.5 years later it rolled out of the shop and even though it wasn't done I was hooked. Life events had me sell and buy and sell the old 55 but I regret it all the time. To fill the void I bought the LX because it is practical and it wouldn't need any work done to it. I even tried to fool myself for a month or two saying, eh maybe just something small like a bumper or lift, but nothing crazy, just keep it tame. I now have a list as long as my arm.

I am 48 years old, married and expecting our first kid before end of the year. Am a EE working for a tech company that designs touch screens. Have had many Toyota over the years and always had a soft spot for any Land Cruiser, especially wagons. Bought my current 80 series 3 years ago with only 82K miles on it and plan to keep it for the long haul. We use it for wheeling and camping trips as often as we can get away.

OK, here goes...

I'm 54. This is my second Land Cruiser, my first was a FJ55. It was a project rig... I loved that thing. Had it for ten years. It needed air conditioning LOL.

Anyway, got this 80. So now it's not really a project car, it's basically become the travel vehicle for any roadtrip we do now.

60 years young here, !! Bought first LC in 1976, a 40.. X wife crashed it. ( among many reasons she's the x ). Started on jeeps then in the 90s always wanting a LC again.. We do long range expo-ing and the Rubicon was beating us up, so I found my 80/450 last October, sold the jeep, and we are in heaven.. Just finished a 7,000 mile round trip along with some hard core trails in Evans Creek and never fatigued.. I should have never gotten started on jeeps, world of difference.. BTW,,, retirement in 1.5 years and we r moving west.. Oh, I drive an 18 wheeler for a major paint manufacturer.. Great career after my business closed down in 90'.. Been married to my sweetest of hearts for 26 years. She loves the expedition style back country camping that we do.. Hmmm,, should we retire near Moab, or Wyoming? Love them both..
