Looks great! Excellent job!

Thanks everyone, i love ot everytime i take ot put. Im guessing I've put about 300 to 400 miles on it is all. Couple trips to work at 70 miles roundtrip and a bunch of 10 to 20 minute strolls around the countryside.

How far are you from Grimes? I'd love to see it. I think you are rocking one of my radio knobs.

I did a 200 mile trip in mine on Friday. Got 15 mpg and made it home without issue.

They do put a smile on your face and people can't help but talk to you about it.

Thought I'd provide a winter update. I purchased a fog light kit from @Racer65 and got it installed this weekend. Install was very smooth following the provided instructions.

I'm also working on installing a retrosound stereo and speakers. More pictures when im finished but here's a photo of the rear speaker enclosures. Still need to be painted to match the body.

I'm ready to have nellie back on the road. Bring on spring!

Work has been progressing on the stereo and I've had a bit of scope creek. After @pngunme brought up the idea of an overhead console I decided that was the way to go with mounting my front speakers.

Goimg with an overhead console allowed me to install an 8 inch subwoofer which does a nice job of rounding out the bottom end of my tunes. The sub is powered by a small class d amplofoer which I mounted where the original speaker was located beside the glove box.

Mounting of the retro manufacturing Hermosa radio was, to me, quite fiddly and i didn't enjoy the job. Its not the world's best install and really the fit needs to be fine tuned.

Anyway here are a few photos of where the work sits. Im going to rebuild the console with 1/2 inch mdf before covering woth upholstery to match the headliner. Then i need tp determine how best to mount in the vehicle.

I have a couple of the metal "shelves" that fit in that space you're working on there and would be a perfect start/base for your enclosure

PMing you my cell... you can stop by down in DSM or I can bring to work in Ames some time for you to check out

Work continues on my overhead console. Rebuilt the enclosure out of medium density fiberboard and got brackets measured, drilled, and installed. They'll need to be prettied up but seem to be doing their job.

Now I'm trying to decide if I want to upholster the console in headliner fabric or paint it the body color.

It’s too late now but one thing we used to do in the stereo competition days was recess speakers and cover in backless carpet so they couldn’t be seen.

I’d go with either fabric or paint the same color as ceiling so it blends. Paint the speaker grills why you’re at it... ;)
