Thanks for the reference. No doubt that's the part. Maybe @SSCR will pop by and help identify the part and confirm if, indeed, the hose from the bottom of said part is simply some type of drain.

Thank you all for your help!

23 months to after delivering my fj40 to the shop its now back im my possesion.

Overall we're simply thrilled and are proud to have brought my aunts 40 back. I know people love patina but we made the decision that in order to stop the rust from getting worse a full repaint was the best course for us.

Anyway, here she is. Not sure I've stopped smiling since last night. My wife even hopped in and drove us to the local brewery for a celebratory brew. Only seemed right to have her drive since this vehicle was driven almost exclusively by my aunt over the years!

Anyway, thanks for following journey and for providing all your expertise!

@NellieFJ40 You have really done your Aunt proud!! She has to be smiling at bringing her 40 back to its glory, great pics!!!

Really nice 40, great story/history too. Those pics have me reconsidering the "leave the patina" idea!

didn't know you could still get truck plates... cool - look forward to seeing it in person some time

Thanks for the kinds words everyone. It certainly means a lot to me that folks like it and it would mean a lot to my aunt as well!

Iowa folks maybe we should have a tall corn meet up sometime. I'd be happy to bring it.

@erics the plates are actually 1977 plates. I've registered the vehicle as an antique which allows me to display these plates although doing so may limit where and when Iowa code legally allows me to drive with the plates. If my interpretation is different from law enforcement i belieive its a $25 fine. The antique vehicle registration offers no cost savings vs a standard registration and I have to keep the current registered plates in the vehicle.
