How is that engine transplant coming Chris?

How is that engine transplant coming Chris?

there has been no progress other than i bought a 90 suburban with a 6.2 diesel in it... So for now i have tow rig that can be a parts list of the things i need for the 60... Or it has all the parts i will need for the 60... Or i just keep driving the suburban and i got a spare motor for it...

I am having mixed emotions right now about putting the diesel in my 60... Driving the 60 last winter really put a hurting on the frame and i don't know if i want to put all that work into a truck with a questionable frame... Plus the 60 has a few issues that need attention in the near future and the issues are with things that will get changed or deleted if i do the motor swap... So i don't even know what i am going to do now...:D

Great build thread Chris. It is nice to see how that beast came together.

We need to start a betting pool.

Which will rust through first:
Burb floors
or
Burb roof?

Either way, it becomes a good donor for engine, accessories, trans, PS, hydroboost...

I was wondering when you would chime in...

actually the floor is not bad at all... But i can't open the tailgate cause the hinges are rusted off :D... I actually might paint the roof, just so it looks a little better...

You've got a good looking 60 there Chris. I say throw the diesel in the 60.

How do you like the 4.88's? Make a big difference on the street?

that place in west virginia looks sweet. we wheel down near ravenswood. ill have to hit you up next time we go down there.

thanks Johnny... your 60 has come a long way in a short time too... the new body looks really good...

the diesel will make it in there sooner or later, i still need to collect some of the more pricey parts before i really get started on the motor... I have some body mods i want to do to the back of the 60 first and then i will go from there...

the gears made a huge difference... they were really great on the trail when i first put them in cause i was still sua and running about 34 1/2" tire, but could only run about 60 on the street... It's ok on the street with the 37s but i feel like i need a little more gear on the trail... I'll be doing some kinda doulber when the motor goes in...

I think I'm going to Slade for a day that weekend but in my 4runner. I have to be in Lexington with the inlaws anyway.

Well i got a few things done to the 60 before we left for Harlan...

I tore my tcase apart trying to chase down a howl/wine i have had since i did the SOA and didn't really find anything out of place.. After putting it all back together the noise was almost gone so i don't really know what is up there :hhmm:...

I also got a back bumper built finally and i'm happy with the finished product... It's nice and stout and held up well in Harlan...

I also cut part of my roof off the back, I have had to many close calls with the back side glass so i just did away with them... I was thinking of leaving the back open and getting a soft top of some sort made for it, but after the dust bowl in Harlan i am thinking i need to close it in some how.... I think i am going to graph the back hatch onto it and make a cover for the bed portion... It is still a work in progress so i will see what i come up with...

I also managed to tear the rear shock cross member off of one side of the frame which pulled the rubber gas line off the metal line on the tank... You just have to love gas running down your arm onto your chest... smelled like gas the rest of the day .... Then on Saturday while on the top of the mountain, on the aproach to "Mason Jar" i broke the drag link end at the axle, just sheared it right off... I got lucky and there was enough of a nub left that i was able to hold it together with a rachet strap and limp about 4 miles back to camp...

All in all a good weekend despite the heat and the dust... It cooled off nice at night and was not to bad for sleeping...

here are a couple of videos i took of 2 of the other guys with us... I didn't get very many pics... I just can't seem to figure out how to get good pics and drive at the same time :D...

If you remember from the pics from last year when i went to Harlan, there was a full size 70's era Bronco on the low boy with us... The Bronco went thru some major work over the winter and i think it turned out pretty slick... See if you can guess which one on the trailer was the Bronco :D...

Here is a video of the Sami with the Hayabussa motor in it... This thing is obnoxiously cool... Until he decided to do donuts at 2am ... I know everyone pretty much knows pics and videos do not do justice to the obstacles we try and conquer... But for those who have not seen "Little Jager" it is basically a straight up climp with a bunch of giant boulders you have to navigate around... I was standing at the bottom when this happened and it was one of the most epic things i have seen in a long time... I just can't seem to find a video yet that shows a view where you can see the whole roll... the Sami was actually airborne upside down for an instant...

That picture with nick dropping in the creek. Where is that? Soon as I get my engine mounts changed and my wiring issue figured out Im ready to go. I love Harlan

That is awesome man, I need to get out to Harlan :D

How did it feel cutting the roof off? I could never do that to the body I have now.

Tony, that is in the upper rock garden...

It didn't bother me to much once i got to it, but i did have to psyche myself up a little... I have just had to many close calls with the rear side windows... yea i don't think i could have done it if the body was as nice as yours...

yea Harlan is great and really not to expensive compared to some other places/events... I was hoping to make it out to the CMCC but it is a little pricey with the park fees and registration fees... Will see what happend between now and then...
