Oh and to where we went. This was up in the Hitt mountains, then down into Hells Canyon on the Idaho side, across the river, then up the Oregon side on Hess road into the Wallowa Witman NF. Anyway, my Cruiser still gets out in the wild several times a year.

Wanted to really test the clutch pedal adjustment from last week some time, and my slightly rerouted bikini top straps (inside the rear seats vs outside), so I threw the bike in the back and headed to the local fire road trail.
The clutch worked great, no more grinding into first/reverse, the bikini top is a draw, I didn’t notice any significant difference in flapping/noise. The bike ride-I was just happy to make it around without stopping.

Its been a few weeks, but I took it and a few followers on a multi-day camping trip. It turned out to be a pretty cold and rainy(even a little snow) weekend for June but that cleared out the forest and we had most places we went mostly to ourselves. I love taking my 40 out camping and wheeling. That's what they were built for and they do it exceptionally well, and with more class and style than newer rigs could hope for.

Living your best life. Your 40 is built for this and looks doing (camping it. Tell me more about your roof rack. I'm looking for one similar to mount a RTT as well. Thanks

That’s a great ride, especially without stopping. That elevation would have had me exhausted 😩

Slow and steady is my new mantra. I was never fast but definitely learning to pace myself as I get older.

Same here, I am always flattered how impressed people are, but this time I didn’t feel like engaging with this dude. Once, about 15 years ago a guy followed me home and insisted that I sell my 40 to him, which made me pretty nervous for a couple of days.
That's a freaky scenario l can understand glad to hear he didn't intimidate you into selling to him...as for myself thankfully my location is remote and it takes a 4x4 to get here...there's also the added bonuses that l can see 1 mile clear down the valley from the house windows & security is armed... ;)

Is there any interest in starting a thread to share 40 series spotted out on the road?

Every now and then, you catch one. Out on the dirt or rattling down some two-lane highway. A 40 series. Not on a trailer. Not behind glass or rusting away out in a field, but out doing what it was built to do. If you happen to see one out there under it’s own power, let’s see it and hear about the journey!

Bonus points if you spot one through the bug-splattered windshield of your own Cruiser (be safe!).

This thread is inspired by other threads as a compliment to them.
After 24yr of living across from 97 acres of trees…..I’m going to explore.

That is a solid Cruiser! Thanks for sharing. We are also out exploring this weekend near the Sand Dunes National Park. Have fun!
